My comp meets all the requirments to play the game but I have 512 MB of memory and I think my sound card or something is pulling from my memory and when I check it in Device Manager it says I only have like 506 MB of Ram and my question is will that effect the game enough to keep me from playing it?

Without knowing more about your computer, it is hard to say if Everquest II will run on it or not. That being said, if everything else meets or exceeds the minimum requirements and you are only worried about the apparent loss of 6MB of RAM, from your total cache, then it should run. Regardless, you need to upgrade your RAM to at least 1024MB.

You will have a much more enjoyable playing experience with more RAM, and it is fairly cheap to upgrade. If you read the other posts on this board, most people say their lag pretty much disappears, with the exception of city zones, after upgrading to 1024MB and many of those already with 1024MB are talking about upgrading further.

In short, upgrade. You won't regret it.

Thanks for the reply, I hope it does run and yes Im gonna upgrade as soon as I can but EQ2 will come in the mail tomorrow and money is tight atm so might be a few weeks before i can upgrade. When I installed the Starter Kit it told me that my memory was insufficent to run the game is that just a flag that pops if under 512 no matter how little of a diffrence it is? I looked again in my device manager and it said that I had 503 MB of memory so I was off a little.

If you got that message, you will more then likly NOT be able to run the game.

The mem needs to be upgraded 10 1024 or above.

What could I do to figure out what is using the 9MB of my 512 to fix it where it will show the full 512 that is in my comp?

What kind of video card do you have, some video cards use your system memory because they don't have thier own internal memory. Incidentaly if you have one of those cards it probalby won't play the game anyway.

It was most likely just a flag that shows if your RAM is under 512. A few MB under is most likely nothing to worry about. If the rest of your system is up to par you should be able to run it, but don't expect it to look anything remotely like what you see of screenies on the Internet. You will probably be restricted to the lowest detail level possible, to keep the game playable.
