Avoidable Quests (Bugged!)Follow

#1 Nov 15 2004 at 2:51 PM Rating: Decent
I realize EQ2 is having a great release, but I've found two quests bugged already.

One is the "Mysteries Delivery" quest in West Freeport- upon completing the quest, the final npc doesn't recognize its completion. I've deleted and redone the quest to no avail.

The other, more discouraging quest, is that of the Holey Hide Boots. They dropped for me in the Commonlands, and requested I kill a elephant. Upon doing so, I got the prompt in my journal "Continue text through journal entry about part 2", or something along those lines. It actually looks like developer's code. The quest then instructs me to kill 10 Dervish cutthroats- I killed approximately 50 and got no credit.

It bugs me that these quests might be broken, and I would warn others against trying them. Any other quests out there to avoid, or am I just making a mistake and perhaps my quests aren't broken?

Don't just warn people, also report these if you have not.

I know this may not be the case or this may be a different issue, but if you are level 9, 12 or one of those levels that give you specific traits, you must select the trait or you won't get quest rewards.

Now, I am not sure if this is your problem or not since I didn't try to kill X number of X creatures while I had the + sign on screen to get a trait. I did complete quests and did not get the rewards till after I selected a trait.

Broken quests are unavoidable in a game this complex. Think how many thousands of quests there are and how they branch out. A particular NPC or item may be involved in multiple quests. The interconnections in this database are amazing. And to think that the quest journal keeps track of it for you.

Massive improvements over the original. So report the bugs, they're probably fixing them as fast as they can. I imagine they have several people whose sole job, until the reports of them slow down, is to fix broken quests.

I also find that these nightly patches actually encourage me. They're stomping bugs as fast as they appear.

Whether it's an interface problem, server problem, connectivity problem. If you can repeat it or it happens often, report it using /bug or the bug button, for all our sakes. Ideas for improvement too can be submitted using /feedback. I'm putting one together about two improvements I'd like to see. Adding notes to the journal and to the map. Let them be stored locally in a separate text file.

Lendel's grand Lager delivery, for about level 8, is supposed to go from Bubbleshire to the bartender in Queynos Greystone yard. The bartender disappears when you go into the tavern.

I did report it.

Its probably not a bug, but did any of you guys get given a quest where the next guy you had to speak to spoke in a language you didn't understand ??

That isn't a bug, that just means youll have to shell out some cash to learn that persons language, then talk to him/her and continue the quest.

The Mysteries Delivery quest was fixed in a recent patch, along with one of the Cataloging quests. Reporting bugged quests *will* get them fixed.
