Wholesalers Quests and Crafting QuestionsFollow

Ok, I've decided to get into crafting. But I have a few questions first.

I was going to buy the ingredients I needed to begin crafting this weekend from the whole saler. Well, he has nothing that I need for sale (and I'm talking level 3 stuff here... I haven't progressed beyond one craft till 4, as I was on the island)! Is this because I need to finish the gathering quest (work order quest) from the NPC in the guild union?

As for the quest itself, where on earth do I go about gathering this stuff? I got a quest to gather some sort of root, went into the forest, and gathered for about an hour and didn't get one of the type of root that I was supposed to get. I then went back and asked for a new work order and he gave me one to get wood. Well, I went back into the forest and could hardly find any trees so I gave up. For those of you who are crafting, where on earth do you gather stuff for your work orders?

Most likely you got stuck like me having to gather tier 2 stuff which can only be gathered in antonica when your gathering or whatever skill you are trying to use is above level 50. As for buying stuff you can not buy the gathered stuff but the rest of it you should be able to buy down stairs at the vender there. The wholesaler will not sell anything to me. I dont know if that will change when you gain status.

I did check the guy down stairs too. He still didn't have anything I needed... >.> He seemed to have lots of stuff that was refined (alread crafted) that players had sold back to him. Or is this just a higher quality item?

Maybe I'm just not wanting to craft the right things... That's probably what it is... I'm looking to craft things that I can't craft without gathering stuff...

bah. confused. =P

Thanks for the help though, bud. I appriciate it. (^_^)b

Most likely it is the second part. I have not seen a vendor that sells any raw products so you will need to go harvesting for the items you need. If you are trying to make any refined items you need to go harvesting or pay the outrageous prices to the people selling the stuff. I myself will not even buy the refined stuff they have because it is not prestine. If you do not craft with pristine for the main ingredient it is impossible to craft a pristine item.

Ok the guy down stairs is the bazaar vendor he shows what other PC's are selling from their homes.. As far as base materials you can gather those outside from rocks and what not.. Its alot more expensive if you buy them from the vendor though all the crafting quests you can complete from buying from the vendor <atleast most of them that i have gotten>

You need a skill of 40 to harvest tier II materials, and 70 I think for tier III.

Gathering: roots(tier 1), tubar(tier 2).
herbs(too many to list!)

Logging: elm(tier 1), unknown(tier 2)

Mining: lead, tin, malachite(tier 1), iron, electrum, tourqoise(tier 2)

Trapping: rats(tier 1), armadillos(tier 2);

That's a simple list of resources, at least around freeport.

I've done heavy crafting, so feel free to ask more questions.

Nice. It was Tubar roots that I was supposed to harvest... Blah.

At any rate, do certain points spawn more often in different zones, or is it pretty even in all the newbie zones? I'm looking to try to target one thing to harvest, although whenever I go to harvest with the roots / gardens / etc. it's almost always a different item.

Roots give roots the gardens give loads of stuff. I just gave up on the gardens cuz they fill my inventory with junk and other people can probobly use it. As for more spawn locations i think its pretty much the same from what ive seen if just matters how many people you have harvesting in that zone.

Excellent... Maybe I'll give it another shot tonight.

Oh, and does anyone (*cough* CaptainJack *cough*) know what the advantage of completing the work order is? Or should I just move on and harvest to craft and worry about that later?

yeah just keep farming stuff and eventually ull get the things u need.

raw materials fer example tin clusters cant be bought from vendor. There is 3ways to get them

1) farm them yerself

2) use a broker to search for what other players are selling.

3) get the market board from a furniture shop put it in yer house and see if any1 is selling the stuff u need then go round there place and buy it.

Completing wholesaler tasks and work orders do two things.

1) You get cash! And sometimes a lot!

2) Your artisan society gains experience. The higher level your society, the more stuff they sell there. The reason there are no Fighter skillups being made is because no guilds have the rank to sell the required ingredient of 'suspension!', which is an oversight perhaps. I don't know if this is broken, or the societies are just not leveled enough because nooone's doing these missions.

EDIT: Me type pretty one day.

For the low level stuff, your primary ingredients are harvested. Don't waste time on crafting quests. You'll need 2 things early on for crafting: 1. Money 2. Bags. Make your crafting revolve around those two things early on cause you can go broke really fast if you aren't careful. You need the bags so you can collect stuff and not have to run to town every 2 seconds.

Here is stuff you need to make bags:
1. Tin (from rocks)
2. Pelts (from dens)
3. roots and plain plants

Focus on collecting those things. To skill up, you can make tin bars and tin buckles. You can also make chloro oil, chloro wash and chloro resin (I think those are the 3 you need for bags). That stuff is all ok if you don't get pristines, so good for leveling.

Hold on to your pelts for as long as possible, if you have to use some, turn them into rawhide cords and save those. When you are ready to start making bags, they require 1 rawhide cord, 1 tin buckle and 1 rawhide something-or-other (can't remember the name lol). That last thing needs to be as high a quality as possible, so make those last.

I have no idea if you are evil or good. If you are evil go to the sunken city and collect resources there then zone over to graveyard and collect there. Keep doing that back and forth.

I also used the lead i kept finding to make the fossil tempers used in the tin recipes...

Not a big help, but at least I was a little less sad when a rock yielded lead. And every artisan xp I can get helps :)

And the rawhide thing he couldn't remember the name of is either "rawhide plate" or "rawhide backplate". Don't remember for sure but it's really obvious in the crafting book.

In quenos area there are 2 different types of rocks. The blemished ore which gives tin and the unearthed rocks which give the malgachite (Sp) and lead.

Thanks, knew I was forgetting something. Yah, rawhide plate is the one thing you need to have high quality and fossil temper is need for the tin. Good catch :) I was in a lot of trouble yesterday trying to get enough money/space to actually skill up. At one point I had 3 cp. I had 1 open spot in my inventory and had to keep destroying/selling stuff I wanted to keep. Here is some more bag info:

Bag level 1 : 4 slots
Bag level 2 : 5 slots (best I've made, couldn't get better than level 3 rawhide plate)
Bag level 3 : 6 slots (haven't made this yet, 5% weight reduction from what I've heard)
Bag level 4 : 6 slots (haven't made this yet, 10% weight reduction, from what I've heard)

The bags cost roughly 150cp to make if you craft everything and a lot of time (fossil temper, 3 different chloro thingees, tin bar, tin buckle, 2 * refined rawhide, rawhide plate, rawhide cord and finally the bag). I think 11 crafting station trips.

But just going through all that, you'll be level 9 in one day if you get lucky and have some starting cash.

All it will let me make so far is tin spikes. How do I get more recipes?

I want to make culinary stuff, I have lots of foraged bits in the bank already, how do I get started on that?

Help!

To get recipes you must buy them.

On the refuge island, the main supplier dwarf has them.

In the real game, there is a merchant in each society that sells the appropriate recipe scrolls.

I suggest everyone that is interested in tradeskilling in EQ2 go to EQ2 traders corner. If you go to www.eqtraders.com there will be a link for the EQ2 TC on the left hand side. Great site, where a lot of people are doing a lot of hard work to make things easier for us less hardcore tradeskillers.

Just stay away from furniture if you are trying to make money initially. Whew! I was crafting with Elm and was able to successfully craft beds and bookcases but the resale to merchants is atrocious... 8cp. Chairs are a little better, able to sell those for 75cp. That doesn't even recoup your losses. Anyway, furniture crafting is a wee bit expensive initially, but when you increase you fletching and sculpting abilities it begins to slowly payoff.

Thanks. I had visited them back in my EQ days and had forgotten they existed. Rate up. (^_^)b

If you got a lot of money and want to skill up really, really fast and easily then do spices. Basically you just need salt, pepper and fuel. All 3 can be bought from the wholesaler, so just buy a bunch of stacks of each and go to the cooking station and come back a much higher level :)
