I've been playing SWG for over a year now and don't intend to quit, but I have been looking for another MMORPG to play. Already checked FF XI and WoW of the list, so next would be EQ2! Any thoughts on if I should try it?

PS: Is there any intentions of releasing a demo of this game?

I've heard of no demo, prolly wont be one(demo being a DL you play for a week or so). I personally am enjoying it and as of the past days it doesnt seem like the servers are being taken down so often, guess most of the kinks are worked out.

I played in the WoW beta, and while there are some really good aspects to that game, I'm playing eq2 cause its more challenging, better looking, and familiar - having played eq1 for 4 years. there are some things in WoW that I would like to see in eq2, but for the most part, eq2 is a better game imo.

give it a try, the first month is free :)

I don't think they'll have any need or plans to release a demo in the near-future. (Did they ever release a demo/free trial version of EQ?)

I'd say that if you have a strong PC with a good graphics card and 512M or 1G of memory, then if nothing else you could play the game to enjoy the visuals...it's great looking on 'medium' settings and absolutely gorgeous on 'high'.

I'm totally absorbed in it right now....even after having played some UO, EQ and many other MMORPGs in between then and now (including SWG), this is the first time I've felt a real 'newbie-rush' since those first two. They have more quests than you can shake a stick at, and while most are fairly typical 'fedex' or kill a certain amount of some critter, they are usually presented well, and there's enough variety to keep it fun. Grouping is lots of fun too, with monsters that are imaginatively designed and fast-paced action. I haven't done too much crafting yet, and while it sounds like there are still a few rough spots to be ironed out, it looks deep enough to be fun to do if that's something you want.

Overall, I think the game is a 'home run', and definitely encourage you to give it a shot.

Well, I guess I'll try it, but it I'll have to wait til Christmas with so many other good games coming out (Halo 2, H-L 2, etc...).

And is the first month really free??

I love EQ2. I manually set the graphics to near minimum because even if it's running "smoothly" i still have problems turning every once in a while, but when i have the graphics on high (whenever i'm not in a combat situation) it looks just amazing. Quests are varied and the rewards for them are great. Many people have hope for the TLC and locked encounters to keep powerleveling and "twinking" to the bare minimum. All around it's a great game.
