Im using a Pentium 4/2.0 with 1024-RAM and a GeForce FX 5600 video card...
Can I play this game on my computer at all are will I be wasting my money if a buy it?

You can .. I had almost the same cofiguration while I was in beta and I played just below ballanced settings. Still great graphics not the best but the best I've seen in a game for a long time.
I'm close to your set-up. P4 2.2/1Gig RAM/GeForce FX5500.
It runs well. sometimes a lil choppy in town with alot of people.
