group debt =(Follow

After reading this entire thread I wonder if I will group. LOL

I have not had a chance to play the game yet but in DAoC I see a lot of groups trying to take on mobs way above their skill level and getting slaughtered. I found a few people that like to have challenge but we all know our job and do it well. We run for levels and never die. I sure hope there are some players in EQ2 that like this or I going to forget the game and stay where I am.

So basically what exp debt will do is make people more mindfull of the people they group with and more mindful of their own actions.

People will hopefully now work to build actual friendships with other people and develop an online community as opposed to simply getting a pick up group for random quest.

This makes sure that the tanks do their job to keep me alive. In EQL if you cleric gets whacked because he is keeping YOU alive. No big deal, because by then, unless you trained, the rest of the party usually survived.

This way guartantees that the healer will do his job, and the warriors will protect him. This also protects against morons who don't pay attention to the healers mana and contiously pulls until the healer can't heal. Either, pay attention the rest of your group needs, or share the debt

Its an excellent idea.

Cheerboy got it right. In Beta I grouped mostly for Chests and Quests. The exp was just a bonus (that COULD add up quickly in a good group). If I wanted guaranteed exp with yellow mob after yellow mob I would solo.

Believe me, if you complete a hard quest or get an Adept spell or really good Scholar book from a chest you will not mind any exp debt at all. It also totally beats losing a level.

would rather die and get a exp rez..now you die and get no exp back

Not exactly what is happening. If you keep close watch on your exp when you or a group member dies, you will see that exp debt is NOT a lose of exp. Unlike in EQ you can't lose exp and thus fall below threashold and lose level. Exp debt is (in simple terms) an XP overhead. The debt appears but will not stop you from progressing, nor does it take already earned xp away. It simply exists and skims a small chunk of NEW xp "off the top" when its earned till the debt is paid. So since no xp is lost, there is none to gain back.
