Good class for exploring the worldFollow

#1 Nov 11 2004 at 8:36 AM Rating: Decent
I'm planning on having one of my characters focused on being good at exploring the world, and wondering what class or classes are best suited to this. Druids were great explorers in EQ, and to a degree Mages were also (being able to gate out while your pet saves your booty was nice). The main abilities for explorers to me seem to be invisibility/stealth, speed, and the ability to escape from dangerous situations that you might wander into. Any advice from beta testers about good choices?

Well, you just perfectly described a scout. :)

Cool. I guess the lack of teleportation makes druids a less diserable explorer class, and I guess scout stealth works well in EQ2. Thanks for the replies :)

All Scouts also get an evac ability, but not until level 25'ish. Tracking would probably be useful as well, for locating named mobs.

As for stealth, upgrade that as much as you can. I had Adept III invis in beta, and even orange-cons couldn't see me. Reds could, though.

Agreed. Scouts and all there subclasses are the BEST at exploring. With run speed buffs/tracking/true stealth/ and eventually evac, they own any other class as far as exploring and/r terrain navigation. You hae to get EQlive out of your mind when laying EQ2 as besides for lore, they is nothing similar about them.

Well said. I too have my main character playing a Scout although I have not made up my mind yet as to which direction (class/sub class) I should take. I always played a Warrior in EQ but decided on venturing the world of EQ2 as a Scout. I like most the stealth skill.
