Ive been playing EQ2 for about 2 days now and have an unhealthy amount of playtime already :P I was just wondering if anyone else finds the world to be a little bit on the small side? I mean sure the zones are massive but there is only about 6 islands as opposed to the entire land mass EQ1 and EQOA had. I understand they have to sacrafice a little for the graphics. This is in no way however, going to effect me playing like a crack addict, i was just wondering if in fact the world is bigger than I am thinking right now.. or perhaps it isnt and we just have to wait for expansions which we all know EQ makes good on.

Less zones with huge land mass roughly equals (or exceeds) more zones with less land mass.

I think that's what they were going for.

They've stated a few places that it will release with more land mass than the original EQ. So I think that means Antonica and the two islands included; not the moon or the planes.

I dunno though. I think it seems very small because they really do concentrate you near the city in the begining.

Ya i guess we have to wait utill we explore before making a final judgement.

As for the expansion packs, EQ1 had an expansion released less than a month ago, and if this is a sign of the commitment the EQ developers have to there games, especially one that has been running for 5+ years... I AM SOLD

I've been following EQ2 since it was first announced (2.5 years ago...) and Moorgard (the community relations guy) has stated they have 5+ years of expansions and story already planned for EQ2. Basically, almost none of the lore in the begining will be explained, but will continue over the next 5 years or so with expansions.

Edit: They've also stated the have the ability to raise the level cap all the way to 200 and not to break the game.

EQ devs rock. They really do make a game for the long run..

Honestly I think the EQ Devs really do rock. They seem to care, have good ideas (or know which good ideas to copy from somewhere else), and really want to make fun games.

The company itself however often seems at odds or even at war with the will of the Devs, releasing product untested or buggy (a la the G.O.D. expansion for EQ1).

I can only hope that the G.O.D debacle has taught Sony management to stay the frag out of the kitchen and let the Devs make them money AND happy customers.

Now, let us all bow our heads and pray...
