For those of you who don't know how the internet works :-)
I am in GA (work) FL (play) so the lowest ping time is closest to me.

If you want to check for yourself. go to Start->Run-> type cmd->Hit Enter

then type

ping "Enter IP address without quotes" and hit enter.

or

ping befallen.everquest2.com then hit enter.

I used befallen in the ex. but simply change the name for the server you want to check..

Bored at work? {Understood.}

This board needs to get as active as the FFXI board. I need something to do. Smiley: tongue

I suppose it will. Have you actually retired your FFXI acct or have just paused it for a bit?

Well...

I'm still very undecided. I haven't played in a good 3 or 4 weeks. I've reinstalled Windows and haven't installed FFXI again yet... So in essence I suppose I am retired.

But there are things in FFXI that I'd still love to do. I still love the game and lots of the mechanics. The thing that got to me was the undercutting. I would farm then wait for stuff to sell for weeks because of undercutting.

I dunno. I may go back, but probably not. My friend was playing yesterday (I had brought my computer over to his house, as well as another person, and one of them was playing) and the graphics don't even compare; even the low end graphics I'm playing with on EQ2.

And I'm a serious EQ fanboi... It's my roots. I started when EQ first came out, and have loved it ever since. I suppose you could say FFXI was just a bridge to a greener pasture. =P

But meh, we'll see. I'll probably cancel my account but not sell my stuff. that way, if I want to come back in 3 months, I can.

You?

Edit (about the board and being active): I like how there's already a "gil selling" thread on the boards, and the game hasn't been live for 3 days. Smiley: disappointed

I have yet to decide as well. I love FFXI, it was my first. I have heard so much about the OG EQ that I always wanted to try it. No need now though, since 2 is out. I will give it a go. I won't kill my FFXI account I have worked to hard on it. However, playing both games will likely be unmanagaeble. Given that I have a wife a 7 year old and a newborn in one month. So we'll see.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Being in college and single does have its advantages. Smiley: tongue

Is your 7 year old intrested in video games at all?

Well there are certain advantages for both. But to be single and playing was certainly a dream I have forgotten.

I always say, if FFXI had come out when I was single. I would easily have 3 or 4 lvl 75 jobs. no kidding. I can lose myself. I am one of those.. :-)

Smiley: laugh

I don't doubt it has its advantages. I personally would much rather be there (married with kids) than here (not married in college) but yeah, all in time I suppose.

Interesting to note the same times of the original testing
from East Coast to East Coast destination where acheived from
the West coast. Very good times from this location to West Coast servers. Pretty good pipes here.

Test Information:

Campbell, California.
Orchard Valley Coffee Shop
Wireless link with
Direct Ethernet Feed to ISP, with DS3 backhaul to Globix in Santa Clara, CA.

I'm guessing in offices in Europe.

I forget who the publisher of the game is in Europe... I know it's not Sony, but another company who markets and hosts their games in Europe.

Square-Enix will be doing the Japan servers.

They ping same as CA servers though. FL is not as close to Europe as it is to CA is it? I hated Geography.

Being from England, maybe I can clear this up.

*does some tests*

East Coast

Befallen - 102ms - 199.108.202.33
Runnyeye(UK) - 98ms - 199.108.202.129

West Coast

Storms(French) - 34ms - 195.33.135.193
Unrest - 160ms - 199.108.12.161
Valor(German) - 34ms - 195.33.135.161

I'd say yes, they seem to be in Europe. :)
