There's just so much comedy to be had by saying SE has a poor track record at giving us new stuff they didn't simply blatantly obviously lazily half-as*edly (got carried away by the hyperbole, sorry) recolour, when SE consistently puts out more new stuff for their game than 99,9% of the MMO's - no, games in general, do.
When the devs completely obliterate the standard and you call that poor track record, that tells us more about you than the game.

You arent very good at reading. Nowhere am i making a comparison to other MMO's. I dont care about other MMO's. If World of Warcraft to name an example hasnt gotten anything at all in a year and we got some additions, why would i care that World of Warcraft has it worse than us? I'm not playing that.
Final Fantasy XIV is all i'm discussing. And their armors lately have been nothing short of recolors with the same base-model. I would call that lazy. Anyone would. Bard and Dragoon gear from CT are exactly the same. Monk and BLM soldiery gear is exactly the same. Staves are just shades for the most part. Spears get a diffirent colored handle. All cuirass share the same model except for the shoulders. All low level robes share the same model. i100 from ST are pretty lazy copy's of the monsters in there. There's sticking to a "theme" and there's 1:1 using the body/legs/hands/feet/head model for it.
The most likely follow-up to that, as clearly shown in the OP with the sleipnir mount, is that original work is going to be locked behind a "optional" pay option if we let them get away with this, and we will continue to get the lazy re-colors of existing gear we've been getting. IF, and only if, the quality and quantity of our gear additions isnt going to suffer from this as well since they have more work to do now.
I am of the belief, and so should you, that original gear should be obtainable by us regardless of extra costs. We're already paying for the game each month already. Why you're suddenly advocating paying extra for things that should be obtainable by us all is beyond me.
