FFXI grossed SE the most money, but the most successful would probably be the first in my opinion. It's not my favorite and I don't hear many people who praise it as their own, but if the first title hadn't been successful then we probably wouldn't have seen another FF title. IIRC the name was changed to Final Fantasy because it was expected to be the final project from Square and the lead developer of the team had it not been successful...

This is correct. The working title was "Fighting Fantasy" and the team of 7 that originally designed it made no apologies for it being a D&D ripoff. Smiley: laugh

If you have the patience to put up with a group that wipes 100 times, you deserve much more than some points Smiley: lol

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

More like 40 or so different groups if you average out the number of wipes per group. Idk exactly how many times I've wiped anyway. I stopped counting months ago when I hit 0/150.

Treasure Hunt additions I would like to see
-Include some locales on overworld and some content exclusive dungeon
-Solo,duo,light party
-Discovering general treasure locations would involve sifting lore via npc talk, landmarks, and maps(think Indiana jones)
-maps,puzzles,treasures would need to randomly re-locate every so often
-geology would change periodically gating access to certain areas
-rewards and content implemented through the free company

I'd definitely like to see something like Nyzul Isle. Incremental progression, flexible timing, procedurally generated dungeons, randomized objectives, and great gear that can either be obtained via direct drop or by obtaining tokens (NNI.) Make it an 4-8 man dungeon (Nyzul Isle in XI was 3-6) that can be entered with as many as you wish. And it'd be much easier to match this to lore, considering all the ruins that are being uncovered all over the continent.

I'd personally like too see Nyzul Isle open world style. I don't want to see most content funneled into dungeons. I just feel EQ next is going to do dungeons not created by developers better via Landmark.
-Content spread across Eorzea overworld to be done in sequential order.
-Save points to make it flexible, after run time depletes, you can warp to the last save point next run and continue from there.
-Randomized objectives
-Procedural generated trash monster, notorious monsters, and HNM.
-Great gear rewarded via direct drop or obtaining tokens.

I would love some large scale raid content, but honestly at this point; I'd be satisfied with just anything to do as an FC. The only purpose it serves currently is for people to gather in a chat channel. Sure you can get your FC housing, but it lacks the same feel as linkshells because ARR lacks the content to bring it all together.

Kinda like Catwho said, who wants to run a dungeon? Who wants to join an FC where dungeons are one of a score of different options you have. Who wants to farm triggers? Who wants to run a BC/KC? Who wants to do an escort mission? Group up for experience on a low level job? Salvage? Assaults? Nyzul?

I know that XI has a lot of age(read: experience) over ARR and we can't expect there to be more options than most of us have time for. It would be nice to see more than just the one we always see and are quickly growing bored of.

I agree with this post in every possible way. There needs to be variety for free company to do. Even if end-game guilds get 80 man extreme extreme hard extreme dungeons. There has to be something to do in between for the game to feel fresh and be a highly social experience when pertaining to in game features.

I feel lore is important and it can't be completely ignored. But if lore stands in the way of some innovative or polished iterative content getting introduced. Lore needs to be fit around the new content and not the other way around. Or worse have content get shelved.

Just about very game steals ideas from somewhere in the industry. I say if you are going to steal ideas from any game and feel justified. It might as well be your own IP? Maybe they refrain from this because they feel it would deplete the XI user base more?

Something that isn't as hard as coil and gives rewards that aren't as good as coil. Like a medium difficulty dungeon, to help break people into the mechanics of the harder stuff. I just feel like the transition isn't there. The new dungeons don't help with this, except for maybe Diabolos. Hell, they can even include the stuff coil gives (unidentified allagan tomestones and sands of time come to mind) that have a worse drop rate than coil but it's there at least.

I'd like to see content that doesn't involve grinding FATEs.

/lookout

(I'd rather do FATES all day long than fall multiple times trying to get to a location only to have to sit there for potentially multiple real life days for certain weather)

Didn't you get the memo? The game is dead. Why resuscitate a moldy corpse? Smiley: sly

Why do I always come into the interesting conversations so late?

tl;dr, ill take what was suggested, with an extra side of ad hoc instanced content.

I've mentioned this before, but I've seen lots and lots of assault content, not much in the terms of defense content. Hamlet defense was a nice addition in FFXIV's older version, as well was Chocobo escort. I'd like to see more 'You're defending this' content outside of Leves and Hests. Frontlines may scratch that itch for me, but I'd like to see more of a PvE aspect to this on a more endgame scale.
