I'm not sure about the menu as I've always hit start, but there are pages and pages of macro icons... I think you just need to page over, though I can't remember how off the top of my head.
Also, typing: /macroicon "Skill Name" as the first line of your macro will display that icon for the macro when you put it on the hotbar if you don't want to scroll through them all.

There are a bout 4 pages or so of crappy icons.. It makes it easier to be able to just drag them in... On the pc it had pretty much every icon in the game is shown there and I believe it was the same on the ps3.. Makes no sense not to have them on the ps4...
The main menu is nice to have on the hud.. I hate hitting selected it takes too long. I was running dungeons this weekend and as healer I like to organize my party so the tank or tanks are just below me in the party list so it is faster to heal the tank.. It takes to long and parties were taking off without protect.. I mean it aint that much longer but enough that impatient parties dont want to wait that extra 20 or 30 seconds.
Having the main menu on the hud is so much faster and easier to pull up logs, duty finder etc..
Anyway any ps4 user should use a mouse even if you use a gamepad.. Makes life so much easier even if you are used to using the select and start buttons...
Edited, Apr 21st 2014 12:54pm by Nashred Maybe it just come from a difference of skill with a controller, but I can fly through my menu without even thinking about it. As you, I do the same thing organizing the party list, and it might only take me like 5-10 seconds at the very most to get to the party screen, and get everybody lined up the way I want it. This may be something that you just have to get more accustomed to, unless you plan to just never do it that way. In that case, nevermind.
I might be wrong on this also, but I think the way to get the menu icon things up on the screen, is to switch to mouse control settings, as opposed to the controller settings. I think that is the only time I ever remember seeing those icons come up on my screen.
As for the macros, I haven't looked through them on the PS4, but there were quite a few for the PS3 version. I don't use macros, so that's something I am not very familiar with.
Hmm wonder if setting it too mouse would make it work but I would then loose joystick altogether.. Still makes no sense, it is in the hud editor and should be available either way..
On the PC I had it set to controller and it still had the main menu and the PC and ps4 FFXIV seem almost identical..
Anyway it is faster to to have the main menu, heck of allot less clicks... Try a mouse.... It sucks that some people are so impatient not to wait that extra few seconds so I can organize my party. I also used the controller on the pc so it is not me getting used to a controller.. I used both just like I am on the PS4..
Edited, Apr 22nd 2014 9:18am by Nashred Most of the menu's might be hotkey set already to your keyboard. Like just clicking M to bring up your map, or P to bring up the party list. IDK if that's true, or if those are actually the right menus for those keys I just mentioned, but either way, that might be a solution to your problem. I'll check next time I'm on to see if that is a way you can navigate faster.
I had thought about using a mouse just to operate menus and whatever else when I was using the PS3, but I only have so many USB ports to work with. Same situation with the PS4. I have a keyboard plugged in, and if my controller needs charged, there goes all of my slots. Is there such a thing as a blue tooth mouse or keyboard? That would be the only thing I could see working for my needs. Plus I have a Turtle Beach headset that plugs in USB, and that is usually taking the controller charge spot when it's not charging, which is not very often, as these controllers batteries don't last for ****.
Anyway, I'll try the key bind thing tomorrow, and see if that would work to compensate for the lack of having menu selection buttons on the HUD.
