That's your opinion, and you're welcome to stand by it. However, I see the reasoning for why such choices were made and I agree with them, regardless of the fact that my Free Company has decide to ignore the mechanics.
I disagree. I think the reason they're adding things like this is to make the game more appealing to WoW players. Seriously though, how far do we let Yoshi keep going before we expect him to be hauled in for completely jacking all of Blizzard's ideas?

First the origin or intent is irrelevant to the mechanic, period. It simply does not matter if we're appealing to the WoW crowd or the Everquest Crowd or the CoD Crowd. If the game is appealing to more people on account of providing more options for people to tacking dated content, be they geard for
whatever flavor of casual you wish to put on them.
Hey, I like Kingdom Hearts, does that make me part of the Casual KH crowd? It's pointless pegging the casual base as the WoW crowd. Scaling difficulty with age of content was practiced in FFXI as well, given the multiple nerfs to CoP, adjustments to ToAU, and the eventual abolishment of level caps for most if not all content in those ranges.
Also, citing that Yoshida is following a lot of WoW's established practices and mechanics is old news to begin with. We knew pre-beta that was happening. I don't like WoW, but its financial success is undeniable, and some of its practices are the cause of that, regardless of the criticism it garnered from more veteran players.
But again, we can speculate as to the reasons all we like. What they do for the playerbase and the fact that it's optional is the focus of the discussion. "I don't like it because it's a WoW mechanic." Is a horrendous opinion to infer, and this is coming from someone who does not like WoW.
