So this Echo Buff...Follow

Show's over guys! All arguments moot! Not really, most people always try to take the most efficient route, whatever that is. Well then again you admitted you would use this carebear easymode buff for farming purposes so you know that.

Any system that rewards you for dying is a bad one. I believe the Lightning DLC in XIII-2 did something similar where the worse you are, the easier the boss became.

I agree with allot of players it will be, not all..

I actually never thought about wiping intentionally to raise the buff. But that will really cheapen things.. Maybe they should just add a buff and that's it. I thought incremental buffs would be good but maybe not..

They could make it a time issue to like you have to be in there for 30 min.. This way it is still faster to just beat it.
Or add a buff with a penalty attached for each incremental increase in buff and less chance at drop...

Are you calling people names? Stop the bullying!

If groups can clear 1-5 one shot in 40 minutes why bother with a buff that will take time to build up? Using turn 2 as the only argument isn't meaningfull

Friends from WoW who moved to FFXIV said a lot of expectations in Raid Finder were using the wipe wipe wipe buff method to get easy clears. Like Hyrist, it depends on your group. I fully expect PUGs to want it, and I expect PF to have "No Echo" runs as well. I moved form Ultros to Adamantoise and have been playing since early access but didn't get into a FC that developed a coil static until middle of February roughly. I don't feel too 'penalized' for not getting to clear T5 before the nerf, it's the nature of time is all (to me it fees like the game is still brand new but it has been over 6 months).

The High Voltage nerf doesn't affect us as that never was a problem for completing content.

Then don't use it. If you can't find people to agree with you, that, sadly, is on you more than it is on the developers.

Tools are being provided to accommodate different playstyles. If you don't wish to use the tools to make these fights easier, seek out those of like mind and do so. Forcing players to play against their habits and trends is bad in both directions, not just one.

You can click it off. Play the way you want. Don't go crying the fact that playing the way you want takes a bit of community building to find the people who share your opinions on how to progress.

I just spoke to one of my FC leaders - and it looks like we'll be skipping the Echo for Extreme Mode Primals entirely. Makes sense as our raide side of our FC is focused on Raid Progression. We're trying to improve as players, not just gear up, so it makes sense for us.

I don't know, you're not gonna convince me on this one. The game shouldn't change to become easier for you if you lose.

If there was an easy-mode server and it did this then maybe I'd be ok but it applies to everyone and the buff is huge.

I appreciate that you can click and deactivate the buff but most obsessive min/max'ers aren't gonna do that. For example I'd feel like it was my duty to keep that bonus damage buff. If I don't think the buff should have been added to begin with then I can surely place blame on the developers.

That's your opinion, and you're welcome to stand by it. However, I see the reasoning for why such choices were made and I agree with them, regardless of the fact that my Free Company has decide to ignore the mechanics.

However, you don't speak with any sort of authority on this matter, as our playerbase is far too varied for any one stance to hold weight. Which is why a neutral perspective, which is the one I'm advocating here, is pretty much the end-all-be all of this discussion.

It is a matter of preference. Just because the player's prefer something you do not, does not mean the developers should punish other players on account of your preferences. Not a week ago, people were talking about how old and tedious this content was. Now you're defending its difficulty even though it served as a bottle neck for most players.

As far as your preferences to blame SE. What's new? You hate SE for every decision they make. It ceases to hold any relevance when it's the only tone you take.

I disagree. I think the reason they're adding things like this is to make the game more appealing to WoW players. Seriously though, how far do we let Yoshi keep going before we expect him to be hauled in for completely jacking all of Blizzard's ideas? He seems pretty determined...

Half of you are acting like this is Icecrown/Dragon Soul style buffs that are applied zone-wide as soon as you step in. You have to actively fail, accidentally or on purpose, to get such a massive boost.

If you're clearing it with a linkshell/free company the buff is a moot point since by this point, unless you're literally just starting Coil as of maybe three weeks ago, you're merely farming to kill time and to flesh out in BiS as much as you can. By this point if you've cleared Turn 5 you don't need these buffs in any way, shape, or fashion and any crying on your part is that of a pathetically spoiled child -- you aren't the only one playing this game.

If you're going to be running Coil for first time clears in duty finder all of your arguments, points, and opinions are moot. You're running an endgame raid with random people. The buff isn't going away and any crying on your part means absolutely nothing. It's a buff to help random, disjointed, and unorganized groups finish out getting some of the better gear for their alt jobs or simply doing it because you can't (or won't) bother with setting up a dedicated group.

Don't want the buff? Don't wipe.

TL;DR: If you've cleared coil and are crying about the buffs, shut up. If you haven't, you have zero stance on with which to complain since it's old content.

Those were debuffs that they later reduced, but since everything else from WoW makes it's way into XIV... look forward to it Smiley: sly

Red Herring.

First the origin or intent is irrelevant to the mechanic, period. It simply does not matter if we're appealing to the WoW crowd or the Everquest Crowd or the CoD Crowd. If the game is appealing to more people on account of providing more options for people to tacking dated content, be they geard for whatever flavor of casual you wish to put on them.

Hey, I like Kingdom Hearts, does that make me part of the Casual KH crowd? It's pointless pegging the casual base as the WoW crowd. Scaling difficulty with age of content was practiced in FFXI as well, given the multiple nerfs to CoP, adjustments to ToAU, and the eventual abolishment of level caps for most if not all content in those ranges.

Also, citing that Yoshida is following a lot of WoW's established practices and mechanics is old news to begin with. We knew pre-beta that was happening. I don't like WoW, but its financial success is undeniable, and some of its practices are the cause of that, regardless of the criticism it garnered from more veteran players.

But again, we can speculate as to the reasons all we like. What they do for the playerbase and the fact that it's optional is the focus of the discussion. "I don't like it because it's a WoW mechanic." Is a horrendous opinion to infer, and this is coming from someone who does not like WoW.

Yes, it's optional whether or not you pay for additional services that were once touted as the reason you pay a subscription in the first place.... as much sense as that makes Smiley: oyvey

I think having the option available still makes the game easier. Do you even realize how much +50% attack power per person in your party amounts to?

I think, at this point, my 2 year old baby nephew could basically beat Titan EX with ease. Maybe I'd need to help guide him but for the most part he could do it if he just kept dying and building up his Echo buff.

Anyway, even if you turn it off (which you said that you won't), it's still making the game less difficult.

It's a clever way to deprecate older content while leaving the content accessible to newer players that won't spend weeks gearing for the encounter but still want to experience the content.I'm not sure why everyone is flipping out about it.

Those of you that have already beaten the content already have your badge of honor and there will be new content for you to earn your honors with.

No amount of echo buff will help you clear Titan or Twin if you're dead in the lava or can't dodge twisters.

You don't get 50% on Titan Ex

You need one brd...or 2 plds for turn 2, that's it. The rest of the turns don't require them at all. Turn 1 ADS can easily be silenced by a pld and mnk, or mnk solo, I've done it plenty of times. The rest of the bosses are pretty straight forward without one.

This, good god this. No one has issues attacking a mob, sure some may not be as efficient with their rotation as others, but everyone can stand there like a knob attacking. The biggest issues we ALWAYS have is finding people dodging plumes and lava and bombs and whatever other pattern that happens in identical fashion over and over.

I suppose an attack buff will push all phases faster leading to having to dodge fewer things though. That being said, whenever we've pushed phases too fast, funny things happen. Exploding invisible bombs, landslide by invisible Titan, Gaol's showing well after he's jumped up. Those things tend to be harder to dodge cause you're not quite sure what else is going to glitch.

Pay no attention Nash. As a troll trying to destroy the game from the Zam forums, Lucas is devastated that SE would make content easier so they don't pull a Dark Souls and throw their game discs against the wall and mass cancel their subscriptions, which he is in favor of.

New hardcore content with exclusive rewards will always be there for a set time, then once that phase moves over, those rewards will be the top content for those less fortunate. Something tells me that Lucas is screaming about carebear content, but there is no evidence he has cleared coil or obtained a primal weapon. Maybe hasn't even beat titan hm. He fails to post on those topics, instead preferring rants about philosophical FFXIV doomsday scenarios or plugging other mmos.

Edit: Just Checked. No, Lucas does not have his relic on his main. Barely has drachen mail. Has only 1 level 50. Has not beat titan hm, so he has no authority to speak on the philosophical effect of a 25% buff on extreme mode primals.

I've never plugged any other MMORPGs unless you mean the post about how awful WildStar is and how FFXIV is better.

In case you're this out of touch, by the way, Dark Souls is quite popular as are many challenging games. I hear more about people hating games because they're too easy than because they're too hard. Some of us actually like overcoming challenges instead of just being rewarded for our failures.

You "just checked"? Lucas hasn't been my main since like the first week. I had to change it for privacy reasons after Hitome told his/her FC to all block me, but I'm friends with most of them now.

I've cleared all HM and EX content which you can now bypass with this easymode buff, by the way. I actually do feel that I have the right to say that it's bullcrap.
