In the end, I usually find it silly to be okay with depicting acts of brutal violence or even implying it, but the moment you wanna slap a digital tit on the screen, all gloves are off. Sex certainly isn't my priority for entertainment, but I'm not ignorant that it ranks pretty high for others or simply gains appeal through taboo status our culture propagates. I doubt Yoshi would ever go Kojima-tier on depicting on a dark side of any of this, though. So, at best, it'll be some dark humor, if not juvenile (like the oil rubbing).
I always found that so stupid too.
You can brutally murder people all day long and nobody cares except for a few old-timeys grumbling about "too much violence". And even then, it is usually only the
excessively graphic or gory violence that gets hated on. When's the last time you ever heard anybody complaining about, say, WoW's violence? Right, hardly anybody. They don't really show much blood (except for certain spell effects), or body parts being removed, or innards becoming outards, etc. But when you examine the actual context on what goes on in WoW... you got murder, you got mass genocide, you got all sorts of things that violate the Geneva Convention IRL. Gassing, Torture, War Crimes, you name it, WoW has it and you can usually maintain a T rating as long as you don't
graphically depict it, or go overboard with it.
But you dare show a lady's bare butt or breasts on the screen, that's an instant M rating and the game is slammed left and right by religious people.
What kinda twisted world do we live in, where it is more acceptable to kill/maim/torture people than it is to depict sexuality?
