I was the only lonely member of our FC that logged on last night, lol.

I'm trying to get on. Still need to move some boxes around to set up my desktop. Fairly confident I'll finally be on this weekend sometime (after what, a week and a half?).

Edit: actually it's more like two and a half weeks. Smiley: frown

No Rush! Most of our folks are active on the weekends. I'm the only crazy person in the FC that plays nearly every day.

I want to improve my character's DoW and DoM jobs. How would you recommend going about that? Remember: I have quite a few. How would you tell someone who has just one to go about improving it? Would you tell them to level another job that they have no interest in? Was it necessary for me to level BST in 11 (something I had no interest in) to remain entertained or to continue to improve my main job? No. I simply could level another job. However, leveling another job was a huge project and often took months. What about when we had everything we wanted at max? What did we do then? Well, eventually a system was implemented so that we could improve our characters even once they were at level cap. This system was created within the same company that also created 14. For a game that supposedly starts at level 50, there is surprisingly not much to do if you spend a moderate to high amount of time in the game on a daily basis.

I'm inclined to agree, but my goals are as follows:

1. Get a job to 50.
2. Gear that job to ilvl 90.
3. Get a Tank, Healer, and DPS to 50.
4. Get all crafts to 50.
5. Get all jobs to 50, while gearing all jobs to ilvl 90. Do this by leveling one low level job while gathering myth for your top ungeared job, and philosophy tomes for your newly minted level 50. Run CT and coil to supplement those ungeared level 50 jobs.
6. Get all gathering jobs 50.
7. Get all battle classes to ilvl 90.
8. Do map hunts and craft useful items to make 20 million gil.

I am somewhere stuck in #5 right now, having completed 1-4. Once I get to 7 and 8 I will truly be "done". However, playing 2-6 hours per day means that by the time I do reach 7 and 8, the level cap will have already increased and I will have an entirely new set of goals.

I'm almost to 50 in everything (DoM/DoW) myself, so I can understand how some people feel about boredom.

This kind of situation actually makes me miss Alternate Advancement (FFXI players know this as Merit Points).

Mind you, I don't miss the grindy parts of it. Just the extra goals it provided. It's possible to get too carried away with it (just by seeing the Alternate Advancement stuff now...)
