Kind of glad I got a job with an "old economy" corporation (a big timber company).
I think pure tech companies are the worst offenders. Part of that, though, is because there is so much churn in IT as people bounce from position to position. My company is alarmed at the "high" turnover the IT department has compared with the other bits, where someone sticks around 20-30 years. I've got a pretty cushy analyst position and while I could get paid a lot more as a contractor on the short term, I'd have the commute from hell to Atlanta where all those positions are. As it is, I have a 10 minute drive to work.
I did actually consider switching to a contractor position once my student loans are paid off (another three years) and the need for a steady paycheck will not be as pressing, but I'd have to do more work.
