It's one thing to prefer playing a particular way, and quite another to force that preference on to others.

I'm NOT that guy, I always role warrior in duty finder and tank normally. However, by myself I dabble with my old Marauder. When doing something trivial with my FC I like to try DDing with my Marauder when not the primary tank. It's a nice FC, they let me experiment, although they laugh at me and my "uber crit build DD monster Marauder!"

It's fun to try new (old) things.

I just wish SE would either make old classes more viable or just take em behind the woodshed and shoot em like an old lvl 30 dog.

I never meant to imply you were that guy; I'm quite sorry if it seemed I did. Marauder is actually an exception in that it has party applications too. DF Titan, for instance, put it on the map; a marauder played well can put out almost as much DPS as a pure DD! Most other classes don't fare quite so well, but there are situations while solo where the extra utility is very viable. I'm actually glad classes are still there. I just don't typically feel they belong in groups.

I'll be honest, I too have swapped back to Marauder time to time just for kicks and giggles. It's probably one for the only classes you can decently switch back to and do stuff on; Titan HM or Chocobo leveling for example. I realize it's a long long long shot but if anything people can drop a suggestion in the in-game suggestion box. Personally I would love to see an expansion on the classes, even if it's not for dungeon/party play. Thanks for the PVP example though, most definitely will try that one later.

Wouldn't they have a lot less to worry about, character balance wise, if they just got rid of classes though?

I know you're saying it might be cool if both classes and jobs are viable, but think about how much work that is. Wouldn't you rather them be working on entirely new jobs?

Personally I don't want to see classes be taken away. It's sort of like being told "you play this way or find a new game" in my opinion. I doubt SE will be releasing a new class, or are they? Will more than likely create new jobs via crossing the classes different ways. Better to have the option there even if it's not a hugely used one than not at all. You know?

In my opinion..... they CAN worry about it. We pay them enough. Doing it your way or my way, they can't use the "too hard to balance" excuse to limit the job/class variety forever. Mistakes will probably be made, and that is ok as long as it is fixed later.

LOL DRG comes to mind from final fantasy 11. Balancing issues caused this job to fall back at one point. However during that time I was impressed to see how many "lol drgs and lol greataxes" tried so hard to be viable until the fix.

Everyone is so fixated on the "fair square" mentality that it limits innovation and options for fear of an overpowered setup not intended by devs. (which can be nerfed)

This game seems almost too stable. I like that in a way.... but I like to ***** with the system a bit.
