Having recently hit 50 war tank, I finally had to give in to looking friggin ugly. I have to look like a big faceless beetle..... like every other 50 tank I see. Darklight looks bad aesthetically in my opinion, so I supported my local crafters by buying heavy darksteel ****..... but still look beetlesque, but I CAN dye it and meld it so I can be a colorful beetle. I can already see that all my future things past ilvl 70 will be drops from dungeons. I feel sorry for well intentioned and geared crafters. I have crafts at 50 myself, but I don't have the properly melded crafted gear yet. Is there a market if I seriously meld up one of my 50 crafts?

There are three things I dislike about that head/body armor stuff for tanks. First, I've been wearing the exact same rehash of that gear for the past 30 levels, and I'm sick to death of it. I get that warriors like the full battle armor... but at least give us more than 1-2 options for 30 levels. It's so boring after a while.

The second thing I dislike is that there is no option to put the visor up and you can't remove the headgear. I know this sounds cheesy, but when I'm doing story quests that involve my character, I like to see his face and his reactions to what's going on. It's really aggrivating watching a story scene, they cut to me, and it's just the cold steel gaze. There definitely should have been an option to remove just the head portion of the armor for aesthetic purposes.

The third thing I don't like about it, is that with a warrior, my axe constantly clips through the back part of the armor. It looks super cheesy. I know there's an option to hide weapon while sheethed, but I LIKE having my weapon on my back. I just don't like that half of it ends up looking like some weird art sculpture where my axe is melded to my armor.

So long story short... GIVE US MORE OPTIONS!!!

No too much anymore with the introduction on Crystal Tower lvl 80 drops. The lvl 80 armor for the tank is not aesthetically pleasing, but hey at least you dont look like a black tin can anymore.

I find it really awesome that my relic stardust rod clips through the back of my AF2 hat. I know your pain.

Yeah I really hate that. Like really really hate that.

I really hate the DL caster stuff too, at least the healer stuff is white/black. I got the Vanya robes just cause I hated the DL cowl so much I couldn't stand looking at it anymore. The first time I equipped a cowl I hated it. They could have at least gave us the option to throw the hood back like the /visor and the option to dye the DL stuff so were not all running around looking like monks in black robes.

Jes beat me to it. I hated the DL cowl but didn't have the cash for a long time to shell out and get BOTH vanya body and head HQ with materia to compete against DL cowl.

Luckily as a SMN my book is sitting on my hip. It's still clips with most armor sets but due to the relatively smaller size of the book you don't notice it as often.

Darklight is the goal.. until you have it.

Then the goal is to get anything!! other than Darklight.

AF2, Allagan or CT drops all look much better for a majority of jobs and equip slots.

OP, are you a taru? Talk about looking like a beetle! Couldn't agree more.

Omg most of the CT gear mostly look amazing
Tesee bard stuff looks awsum on her... The whm stuff looks so much better than the level 90 whm gear which is just a rehash of the FFXI empyrean set and FFXIV AF set.. boring....

No, I'm a fem galka, but I feel sorry for those taru tanks. I look like a BIG beetle when standing, but when I go into battle stance those huge ugly shoulder plate things hide my head and I look like a headless dullahan or something.

the whole set of armor is a clipping mess. Just do a couple emotes.

Up until 50 I avoided every piece of the "heavy" series of armor. At least I had the option to wear scalemail (which looks cool) and a helmet that I could turn invisible without sacrificing too much defense. Now I basically gotta use it unless I wanna downgrade 15 item levels down to militia gear.

I have to admit I gimped myself to bypass the ugly as sin Darklight body piece.

I was saving up enough myth tomes to bypass the DL body to go straight to AF2. I already had the Warrior helm and was almost saved up for the body piece when the Crystal Tower dropped the body piece for me.

So now I have

AF2 Helm
CT body
DL hands
AF2 pants
CT feet

I personally like the way it looks, but more importantly I got to bypass looking like a steam stack on a choo choo train.

Yeah, I instantly regret buying the Darklight legs because of how badly they clip through the CT body. Smiley: lol

I'm just going to save up for the myth pieces (or hope that the Allagan stuff drops).

I was fortunate to have a static for WP AK runs, The drops there (or "were" since the update) are a tad over AF1 so it is a nice snack while you save up the myths.

CT spoiled me though with the tome drops along with some great gear that's a tad under Af2.

Oh and worst sight ever is a tank with the DL body piece and the skinny CT feet. Talk about top heavy

I detest the look of all of the head/body combo armor pieces. The one I used at all while levelling I refused to even finish the spiritbonding of it.

I was so happy to get out of the heavy DL armor (chest). The 1st thing I bought with myth was the chest piece, and I do not regret it.

I know, right? I was so excited to buy the Valor pants yesterday since I had the CT boots, then I went to put the two on and... there's some skin showing.

In my opinion Vanity slots can't come fast enough...

Also they need to allow us to choose what clips over what...

For instance on my Drg I have the Onion pants which have that short type look to them...however if I put on the AF boots my legs become chicken thin and its fustrating...I want the legs to override the boots.

It's pretty terrible when upgrading from it as well.

You're wearing an ilvl70 piece that covers both your body and your head. Lets say you finally save up enough to buy that ilvl90 Body. That's great! There just arent any single-head pieces available for you. You need to wear ilvl55 stuff till you make enough Myths to purchase the head to go along with it :/ Decent in theory, but you just gained 2 VIT from doing that at most perhaps due to the terrible head that goes along with it.

Same thing goes for the Legs/Feet piece. It's a terrible design and should never have taken place unless there were plenty of (craftable) alternatives available.

Valor Surcoat + Hoplite Circlet = +7 VIT over Heavy Darklight
