That said, ANY leves will give you excellent XP/hour. I spammed leves around level 40 on mnk and gained a full level in under an hour, using maybe 6-7 leves. I'd say that might be the fastest way to level now tbh. Plus you make a little gil, and I find it to be a lot more fun than FATE grinding.
Uh, I'd love to know what leves you're talking about. Level 40 leves, with wanted target and full time bonus, only net you around 18K each. Counting fully rested, using food, and potentially getting chains that's another 2-3K per leve so let's say an even 20K. This is a *best* case scenario where realistically a friend is helping kill while you tag to ensure you get the time bonus (as well as maxxing out the difficulty), but in reality you're looking at 15K with 18K~ on a wanted target that doesn't always pop.
You need 324K to hit 41. Even taking the best case scenario you're still looking at 4 sets of leves (16 at least) to level and *NOT* 6 or 7, and in reality you're really looking at closer to 20 leves per level. Even Mor Dhona leves at 45, maxxed out, wanted target, and getting the time bonus you're not breaking total EXP in a leve of 22/23K.
A full 104 leves (4 saved + 100 allowances) isn't going to get you more than 4 levels and that's being hopeful with wanted targets. I just burned through 104 trying to push BLM past 40 and was severely disappointed at how terrible they still are. I started a quarter into 40 and ran out halfway through 45.
No, battle leves are *still* horrendously slow and you aren't (and didn't) hit 41 off of 6 or 7 unless you were already close to leveling.
That many leve allowances in crafting or gathering would have netted at *least* 15 levels and potentially more if you only do the right ones (i.e. evaluation bonuses on gathering, and only turn in HQs on crafting).
