So I did the ultimte weapon...watched the credit and then.....theres more main story? Is there an end..it never said hard modes unlocked..

When in doubt check the The Waking Sands. I think there you get the quests to do the hardmodes & then coil.

After that try the 2.1 patch notes for locations of additional storyline quests.
