I think there's a treasure map location there.

I haven't checked prices lately, but toad leather used to sell for 700-900 a pop and is pretty easy to HQ if you have a level 50 Leatherworker. A single DD can rotate those toads and get a stack of skins in about an hour.

The unpleasant truth though is that if those people undercutting by a ton were really being stupid then their item would be bought quickly and resold at a higher price. What is happening though is that there's just a huge supply of items and people are desperate to get their items sold at any price at all.

There's just a huge supply and low demand for all items really.

There are zero mobs near that node.

The cave he's talking about is, I believe, right past Horizon, and below the Westwind fight. There are a bunch of low level toads and Yarzon's in there. Yarzon legs sometimes sell ok too, depending on the color.

I've been running into a similar issue. I have a few things I sell for decent profit usually, but have seen the price of all the items drop by more than 70% in a matter of days. Some don't even have huge supplies, just 1-4 listed for sale, but the moment you list something for 8k, you log on the next morning and find it listed by someone else for 2600 >.>

People are scrambling to make money at the moment, but are ******** themselves at the same time by making everything worthless. It's asinine.

I believe the RMT are trying to ruin the economy, they sell for less and take a loss. This causes the prices to drop but it makes them more money when people turn to them because they can't make gil. I put some items up for 600gil, was average price. The next day it was down to 120gil average because of 1 person. That same person did that to a bunch of other items.

I've seen the same thing as well. Some items being sold for WAY less then the perons above them, then the next listings are under them. And the same person is doing this. Something for 30K being listed by them for 10K then everyone under them list it for 10k too. I just leave mine up there and hope for the best.

So do all servers exhibit this behavior?

I wonder what the Japanese servers are like. Maybe we can look at those somehow and see how those are behaving. I've seen a big drop in my own money making ability even in WVR crafting of materials and such for multi leve turn in gil making.

I've been selling HQ cotton cloth for 1k a pop and HQ linen cloth for 1.5k a pop (almost all profit). I sell Materia lvls 3 and 4 (3-4 per day at 10k (sav might 3) to 45k (sav aim 4). and tome items which are down to about 6-7 k per...... still making 40-80k a day with ease. But crafting right now is a lost cause.... unless it's leve items.

Hmmm might have been WP, but my original thinking was Crystal Tower. I was definitely in a group with a Thanos though.

Actually, I think it would have been Tuesday (Christmas Eve) doing CT.

The Thanos in my pt hit a macro to shout out instructions for the behemoth fight, only we weren't at that boss yet... so it was pretty funny!

Ah ok. I usually don't do sb in dungeons. If I meld cheapo materia into my stuffs and put on an aetheryte ring and meteor ring I can usually do a whole set in about an hour of blowing stuffs up too. What jewelry do you use? I need lots of crits for my sexah Vanya biness!

JP server here, I honestly think we're just seeing a lot greater supply in the market due to the influx of players coming back for 2.1. Not much more or less than that.

Nobody is ******** themselves really, and it's far from asinine. Clearly you're upset about participating in a pricing war though, and that's ok, but it's not fair to blame other people. They just want to move their products. It's healthy competition.

I made excess lvl 35 guild turn in items the other day on LTW and put them on the MB, even with the prices dropping the margins are still in the order of hundreds of percent.

So, while it certainly appears there's deflation happening at the moment, it's happening across the board and the margins are still there if you look for them. All I can suggest is holding onto large sums of gil until the economy stabilises a bit. It will even itself out like these systems invariably do, but it's pretty clear SE wanted to take some heat off the economy.

tl;dr - the sky isn't falling.

Agreed.

When prices fall to the point that people don't find being sellers worthwhile, then supplies will decrease and the market will level out. The development team will adjust housing prices accordingly over time (as is the case now), and eventually, new content patches will bring healthy inflation in the future.

It's not as huge as you seem to be making it out to be. ilvl70 accessories are not all magically dead. Some of those ilvl70 accessories were, and some still are, better than ilvl90 counterparts. Take Gryphonskin Wristbands or Ring for Bard as an example. In 95% of all sensible situations I'd use them over allagan. Even now with the new primal accessories, I'll still be using my Gryphonskin Wristbands at the very least until I eventually get the drop from Ifrit Extreme.

And just to really point out the problem of the crux of what you're saying: People don't go instantly from artifact to BiS gear. Crafted ilvl70 gear, especially accessories, is a great way to fill the gap.

No, they don't but they do get enough ToP from 1 duty roulette story dungeon to get an accessory. And in what world would you prefer Gryphonskin over Allagan!?

13 Dex > 9 Dex

You should never sacrifice main stat for some secondary stats. Here, I'll do some actual numbers for you:

I'm Bard, avg ilvl 77
456 Dex

Allagan Band: +1.15% DPS increase
Grypohnskin HQ (about 350k plus meld prices): -+.28% DPS increase, using the previously suggested optimal melds:

Quote:
optimal meld (debatable) 10 vit - 9 crit - 9 sks

This is in comparison to my current darklight band. Grpyonskin HQ costs 350k on my server, plus the cost of failing melds. Of course, since I don't even have an allagan band yet, I'm not suggesting it's easy to get, but Darklight is and miniscule increase in dmg is not worth the cost (arguable I guess. You could have billions of gil, I only have 1 mil which would only get me 2 or 3 of these pieces). The only reason to use gryphonskin is so you can feel like a delicate snowflake unlike all the sheep who use the easily attainable and very cheap Darklight Gear.

Seriously, punch in your own numbers or be lazy and just tell me I'm wrong.

Some things I noticed on Ultros:

- Shard prices are waaaay down (8-12 gil a piece?) Highway robbery. Buy these up. Mostly due to new quest rewards (like treasure hunting) giving ample shard payouts. Time to get your Luminaries!
-Prices for Tier II crafting materia (~20k) are nearly equal to Tier III and Tier IV. People are buying up the tier II to slot in the dodore / patricians sets
-Crafted Wolf Armor is not selling for nearly as much as I thought it would.
-Furniture is not selling at all (no suprise)
-After people sell off their quest rewards, those IV materia will jump slightly (10-20k up to about 50k) but will be nowhere near the 180k they used to be because now they are much easier to get from converting and are therefore less rare.
-Vanya stuff is down 1/3 to 1/4 of its old price. Thanks CT. Could also be another reason why materia IV costs are down.
-Fishing is still not profitable.
-Cooking is slightly less profitable due to the food effects hanging around after death.

So basically, anything you used to do that made you a lot of money has now effectively been curb stomped (unless you sold primal runs Smiley: disappointed).

Im a BLM so i use zircon braclet, earrinngs, and rings since they're cheap to make ( i hoarded some raw zircon when the price was low and electrum ore has never been expensive). I have i90 gear and my zenith weapon in my other slots so it doesn't take much time of runs (maybe 2-3 min).

Cool thanks...

I'm doing all felt on the left, tourmaline on the right. With my two rings being used to speed up bonding, that gives me 8 items a round.

I'm gonna go blow up some level 45ish stuffs for a couple days lol.

I made over a million gil this past weekend. I don't think market is dead.

Selling tomes or other endgame items, I presume?

I dunno, I think given his stance on housing being fine, it feels like a bit of trollbait. If one is pumping out that kind of gil over a weekend, then I suspect they're going well above and beyond what the average player may or can do. On the easy end of it, maybe they're part of a group that sells Titan clears or he got really lucky with the in-demand T4s from SBing. Crafting will otherwise be a slow and monotonous crawl subjective to undercutting a lot of people wrestle with and even if selling tome items outright at 15k per, that's a hell of a lot of dungeons.

So, while I don't think it's impossible, it's not something that'll happen in a couple hours of casual play. As well, if everyone else starts doing the same, well... splat go the profits and the stance that housing pricing is fine pretty much collapses because next week that same million may be 750k, then 600k the week after that, etc...

You're right, Seriha. Casual players will not be able to amass that much gil over 3 days.

Let alone a month... Either they are lying or selling runs.

The undercutting is nuts... What is worse you pick who too buy from. This weekend I tried something and under cut by a penny and I was the first to do it with that item. Well It didn't sell and I came back and there were 10 more of the items priced exactly the same as mine and several had sold that day at that price.. Mine should have be the first to sell at that price since it was the first put up at that price.

On my server I have a hard time even selling anything period. If I put it up and dont undercut it dont sell and even if I do it dont sell because someone else will.. I have seen things I put up for sale a day later selling for 25 percent the value it did a day earlier. i have literally put something up for 5000 because that is what it was selling for to comeback a day later and it is selling for 200 gil..

This game needs a system closer too FFXI.. People also should not be able to see what everyone is selling theirs for.
First up at a price should be the first sold.
