So I popped my Official Forums cherry yesterday and have my very own 10 day ban. I’m a bit bemused, I really didn’t think the comment I’d made was that inflammatory, although I do admit I posted it in reaction and explained that a couple of posts later (both posts are now deleted).

I was cited for language: I said “Hey *************** and for making a comment that was detrimental to the community. I don’t know how pointing out that as a publisher SE should carry some responsibility to their customer base as they are providing us a paid service is detrimental. The comment was a bit tongue-in-cheek and admittedly a bit acerbic, but I’m quite sure no-one would have burst into tears after reading it (especially compared to some other posts).

It’s actually the first time I’ve felt the OF could be comparable to a Police State, and I’ll admit I feel a bit hard done to by it.

Guess I’ll have to live and learn.

Disclaimer: Sorry, I couldn't resist quoting 1984 for the subject title.

Generally any cuss words on the OF are no-no's. That alone is probably what got you. People complain at SE all the time, but as long as they don't use vulgar terms they seem to be ok.

I also broke my official forum cherry with the suggestion that they set a FC rank just below the level we use as officer that has deposit access to the gil bank, but not withdrawal access.

Right now we're having to shuffle our house money via delivery box to one of the officers to put it in the bank, which is kind of inconvenient.

You know who else broke their OF cherry?

Hitler.

There is a sneaky joke in here somewhere...

Or is there?

I don't get it either.

[quote]Hey ***************

That's what would have got you the 10 day ban. There are countless threads berating SE on there, yours wouldn't have been special.

It's probably not the mods acting on it by themselves, it would have been people reporting the post. Probably on account of everyone, you know, not being ********

I'd imagine referring to your audience here as "************* probably wouldn't get you too far either?

I get that, I thought the context was humorous rather than offensive, but I should have been more clever and realise not everyone would pick up on that.

I'm missing something I think. Can't you do this now? We've set it up so the only person who can take money out of our FC is me (leader) but anyone can deposit. I just went in and edited chest access. It's a separate category but you could leave it open to officers too if you want.

You can also set up your own ranks and assign them permissions.

If there's a way to do this, my FC leader and several others couldn't figure it out. Our ranks have "full access" and "view only" for gil.
