So I ran a few dungeons last night... Wound up getting like 800 tomes of Philosophy and buying my Darklight Chest armor and got my Hero's Ring too... my item level is 63 at the moment, I feel that is pretty decent for my 2nd week of end-game.

Did you know that if you run the main storyline dungeons (the final 2), that you get your normal 100 tomes... and then a bonus 200 for using the roulette... I got 300 tomes for doing 1 dungeon that was super easy because everyone was doing the same thing I did and queuing up for the extra tomes.

Yeah I plan on doing this after work today. At that rate, I'll have the rest of my Vanya gear by next week :)

I think I read you only get the big 200 tome bonus once a day though... is that right?

800 Tomes is huge?! Was that using DF only - or were you in a FC group?

DF only, did all of the roulettes and ran an extra WP for good measure. 800 was an approximate, could have been a little more or a little less, but it was a great amount of tomes for the little amount of work, I'll tell you that much.

PVP is going to need some work. From the matches I participated in last night they basically came down to who could get Sleep off first. Once the group is asleep its a slaughter.

Isnt there potions to ward of sleep and silence?

I managed to squeeze in a couple of Duty Roulette... um... spins? as a Scholar this morning. A quick Ifrit Easy Mode fight and a Guildhest later, and I had some Philosophy and Myth Tomes and 2 <3s in less than 20 minutes without a hitch. Smiley: thumbsup

Those guildhests seem to be a good way to level. I know the beastman quests were taking a few minutes and giving me 8-10k exp, like the old main and sidequests used to.

Yep, made a Swiftcast > Sleep macro for just such an occasion. Times where it is good to be a black mage. Smiley: cool

Same here. It's pretty much mandatory.

On potions, I noticed most of my potions were grayed out while in the fight. My Elixirs werent but my status heals were (yes I have them on their own bar). Haven't tried sleep ward potions however so next time I can get on I'll take a look. I cant remember if I've ever been slept in PvE.

Also PvP gear is pretty much meant to add those resistances. I think the materia does too. Maybe it won't be such an issue when more people get geared?

Warrior got some needed boosts. But they're not the amazing DPS/tank monsters they're being made out to be. They deal the same amount of damage they did before. They got a slight buff in damage due to Unchained CD being lowered from 180s to 120s, but also received a slight nerf with Internal Release going from 20% crit to 10% crit.

Those are the only changes that affect WAR damage in this patch, aside from any changes to gear that may have occurred.

But WAR itself is now on par with PLD in terms of soaking damage. PLD needs some help now in making the class "interesting." It's effective, but simple. You Flash for aoe threat, with CoS when it's up, and you RoH combo the main target. Utilize cooldowns as needed to absorb damage/silence and toss in the odd stun. There's no choice though. You use RoH combo for everything. PLD needs a bit of help in the aoe threat department, so maybe tying Riot Blade into buffing CoS would be nice. Have CoS grant extra emnity when used after Riot Blade, as well as a boost to potency. Make it so the DoT portion also generates extra emnity after a combo.

Or not. But do *some*thing. PLD is effective but boring, and that's no good.

As I sat cranking out the rotation, over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over I was thinking the exact same thing.

Your suggestions are really very good! Maybe post this on the official forums?

Just clear Halatali on DF Roulette, was stupid easy but fun. The aesthetician quest is quite funny. Not enough time online today though, bah, tomorrow I'll try the beast tribe quests.

Also tried a treasure hunt, no minion though :(

EDIT: I also made a Wolf Labrys and threw it up on the Wards to see how it sells - PvP weapons need a lot of mats: Darksteel Ingot, Raptor Leather, 2 Cobalt Ingots, 2 Silver Ingots and a Rosewood Lumber just for that great axe.

Speaking of which, i did AK... they ruined it. They said they removed monsters, but the only noticable thing was one single group of Bronto's right before the Wall and one single group right after the wall when you warp into the third phase. All the other monsters they removed were monsters you didnt fight anyhow. Following that they set the clock to 90 minutes, even though you barely need that time, it makes everyone want to rush rush rush. We finished it in 35 minutes, opposed to the average of 40 minutes

They made the mobs squishier too, it's very noticeable. Like a warm knife through butter. Should be able to get below 20 minutes easily without even resorting to locking mobs out of boss rooms.

Once you reach pvp rank 3, you can buy Purge(it costs 3 points), it will instantly remove any negative status affliction you have, many mages were surprised by casting sleep on me, me purging then stunning them into oblivion, there are also pvp materia with sleep resistance.

I am finding the PvP to be quite fun, was levelling war in the level 30 tier, 3.4k xp for winning a match.

What I find hilarious is the starting rate for treasure maps. Sure enough, 1-2 mil depending on the lvl type. Of course no one has bought one, but a few suckers have already coughed up 80k for them. They are not that rare. I was able to fish one up in 10 minutes. The 18 hr lock out is a bit high, but as far as I know, it applies to finding a map, not using a map. Not sure if you can buy multiple on the market board (and use them). I presume when it lands in your inventory, it counts as a find, wether you bought it or "gathered" it.

Haha yeah, I tossed a map up on the boards hoping some sucker would come along and grab it.

They're not that rare, but not everyone has bothered to level a DoL job up to 35+ just yet.
