Why can't I do guildleves?Follow

So I joined the Immortal Flames and I'm trying to grind out the 2000 seals for my chocobo. Well, I got to about 1850 doing random FATEs and knocking out a couple of tiers of their hunting log, but then I hit a brick wall. No more FATEs were popping up in the area and all of my hunting log targets were in zones far, far away. So I decided to do some guildleves. I went to the guildleve NPC in Scorpion's Crossing and tried to pick up some, but he only had some low level quests and they didn't reward any seals.

So, what am I doing wrong?

The most likely answer is that you haven't advanced the main quest enough to unlock that leve location. Try advancing the main quest line a little and see if that helps.

You don't go to the regular levemete for GC leves. There is a separate NPC for the GC leves. The NPC's title will be like "Serpent Sergeant" or something along those lines. If you haven't been instructed on it by the game yet, you may still need to unlock it by advancing the story, as mentioned above.

Bah, a couple of the websites I checked told me this guy was the guildleve NPC. Oh well, I'll just find a couple more FATEs.

I have been told about guildhests. Do i need to do that before I can do guildleves?

Nope guildheists are the short dungeons that you can DF for.. as mentioned the GC Leves have their very own NPC, depending on your level and hunting area you will find them in one of the small towns (the rest bonus areas).

The bottom of this list has a chart on where GC leves are and for what level.

Ok, so maybe I haen't advanced the main story enough to open up guildleves. Does anybody remember at what point guildleves open up? I'm at the point now where I'm going into some dungeon whose name I can't remember to rescue the sylph king.

Well, at that point in the story (actually, well before it :p ), you should be able to talk to the Guildleve person in whichever city you started out in, and he'll give you a quest to go try out a leve somewhere else (been a while since I did it, so I'm a little fuzzy on the details :p ), after that, you should have access to guildleves.

For leves at pretty much everywhere but the starting areas, you'll also have to do a trial quest at that location (the levemete will have the quest "Leves of <place>").

Anyway, hope that helps!

For Immortal flames the first GC guildleve officer is in Camp Drybone if I remember correctly.

When I joined the Flames, there were no quests available in the area. I was just sent back to Vesper Bay to talk to Minfilia. I thought that was a little odd because they told me to get 2000 seals (for chocobo) but didn't give me any readily apparent way to get them. I found out "by accident" that doing FATEs granted them.

I will check out Camp Drybone when I get home tonight and see if I can pick up a guildleve. That would make sense since you join a grand company around level 20 and Camp Drybone is in the 15-20 zone.

Did that. It told me someone in Scorpion's Crossing could give me guildleves. I went to Scorpion's Crossing and talked to Graceful Song and he would tell me about guildleves bout wouldn't actually give me any.

Yeah, sounds like you need to advance the story a tad more.

I'm not sure. By the time I could accept my chocobo quest, I was doing Camp Drybone GC leves to get the seals required to get my chocobo.

Have you done all the quests in Drybone?

Just scroll to the bottom of the page like I said. There's all the location for the Grand Company guildleves.

I'll check this out tonight. I only need like 140 more for my chocobo. After that, I'm not too worried about seals. The first set of gear is awful for me.

I remember you said you had started to level Miner - you can also do supply and provision missions for XP and GC seals. The hotkey for this is CRTL+U, and it will show you want your GC wants (the list refreshes every 18 hours I think). One of them will be 10 mined items appropriate to your level, and if you hand in 10 HQ items you'll get an XP and GC bonus.

It's easy XP and seals.

So the entire time I was talking to the wrong NPC. In response to the unasked question, yes I feel like a giant horse's ***, lol.

The three starter GC levemetes are in Camp Drybone (Flames), Moraby Drydocks (Maelstrom) and Hawthorne Hut (Twin Adder). You get more seals for doing quests from your GC levemete, but you can do quests at any GC levemete and still get rewards, they just won't be as rich.

When you get to lvl 30 (If I remember correctly), there is a quest that will allow you to summon your chocobo to fight at your side. You cannot do that in full party, in a dungeon, an instanced quest, etc.

Be aware that lvling your chocobo (he can reach rank 10), takes a LONG time and that the chocobo is only usefull when you are farming or lvling in the outside world.

The quest is in Camp Tranquil, which is in the southern part of South Shroud, south of Quarrymill.

I discovered this morning that I am slightly behind the levelling curve. I'm at the point in the main quest where I have to gain the trust of the Resistance in Little Ala Mhigo and I got sent to some place in The Shroud to talk to people. Well, I completed one of the quests, and the next one was red for me until I gained another level. Up to that point, I was doing pretty good about being a couple levels above the level of the main quest, but since they've started sending me outside of Thanalan, I'm falling behind because I'm not doing any of the side quests in either The Shroud or La Noesca because I'm saving those to help with levelling alternate classes.

I guess I'll just have to do a couple extra runs of whatever the next dungeon is.

What level are ya now? 22?

Have you joined an actual fate party at Quarrymill? That is in South Shroud. Give it a shot. Just /shout "(Fate) (Party) (Can I have it?)".

Because of the way FATE participation is handed out, being in a party is immensely beneficial, especially to a tank class. You should go from 1500 EXP per fate solo to somewhere closer to 5k at that level.

Try out the FATE party for about an hour to see how your EXP gain looks. The fates pop randomly, sometimes there is a lull. Over the course of an hour you will see why 95% of the players huddle in this zone from 22 to 35.

When this gets boring queue for Halatali or Toto-Rak in the Duty Finder. Doing a variety of activities is what keeps the leveling process form getting to repetitive. Whether in a dungeon or a FATE, leveling with a party is way more fun. :)

I'm dinged level 27 this morning before work. I haven't done a FATE party yet because up to this point I was already ahead of the main quest in levels. Now that I've fallen behind a bit, I may have to try this. I skipped Halatali, but I did a run of Toto-Rak with my FC last night. God that place was annoying. One of my FC members said "Manor" is the next dungeon and it's pretty fun, so I might do an extra run of that.

The next thing I need to figure out is how macros work in this game.

Well feel free to ask or make another post about the topic. They're pretty straight forward. If you need to execute an ability like Flash, you can do this:

/ac "Flash" <me>

Honestly, I use macros pretty sparingly. On GLD/PLD, about the only thing I macro is Fight or Flight and Bloodbath.

I do add /p lines to certain macros like cover. Possibly even hallowed ground when you get it at 50 PLD.

I haven't talked to you since you joined Midgard! If you need help running a dungeon or doing anything, simply let me know. Most of the game can be done pretty easily through the DF, though. You'll probably run into your first wall with Titan and then Garuda.
