Looking to start a static group for coilFollow

I'm just looking for some tips and guidance on the best way to go about this,

I'm looking to start a static group for The Binding Coil of Bahamut on my server. I'm in a few Linkshells already but mostly everyone seems to already be in groups. I've spent more then a few hours watching the shouts in wineport and shouting myself to start a static but only have 1-2 people recruited (to go along with the 2 I have from LS's)

Is there a trick to starting a group? In FFXI Linkshells recruited and on forums you could find ones on your server (Saragantus) that fit your playtime...FFXIV doesn't seem to have this at all...(game is super new still so I'm not shocked)

How do you guys all get into groups? so far I have been just doing Coil in pugs and that isn't great.
or rather how would you go about setting up a static group on your server?

The first group I ran with my FC fell apart fairly quickly. A mix of flakiness from some members and overall dissent from others and lack of group chemistry really plagued progress.

The second group was a combination of [different] FC members and some real life friends of mine. We used doodle.com in order to plan out a schedule and determine who can make a common time for these FC members and real life friends and weeded out the outliers to come up with a common time.

After that it just came down to being patient and looking up videos and strategies on how to get wins. My problem with pickup groups is that the group chemistry can be really random. People don't get along or quit because they lose once. Coil is an unforgiving area, and you want a good patient group of friends that you can work with.

Oh, and have voice chat. That helps tremendously.

If you're able to commit to several days a week with no issue, it shouldn't be TOO hard to form a static. If you're FC and LSs are already all taken in terms of statics, start joining pugs. Turn 1-2 are cake now for MOST people...again, MOST people, so that leaves 4 which is still quite difficult for some. Turn 4 really shows how bad peoples dps rotations are, and it's almost mind boggling. That being said, I've pugged 1-4, 3 weeks in a row now successfully and it's more then doable. Just by doing that, if you do a good job, you'll get offers to peoples statics as most have 1-2 unreliable members.

If you end up like me, a shift worker who can't commit to specific days of the week (consistently), you'll end up in several Coil shells and have next to no issue running through your turns in a matter of a couple hours. Just watch a few videos and read some guides before going in and you'll be fine. I have to say, in the last month of pugging this, I have yet to meet ONE jerk in all the parties I've been in. It's been nothing short of remarkable how helpful people have been and it's been shocking. Bad players? You betcha, but after a few tries, you politely bow out and find yourself a new group.

Also, Monday and Sunday are the hot days to run these things!

I met a PUG with friendly people and after the runs the leaders handed out a Linkshell. Then we said we would meet up next week. Then we did.

Then we met up the week after that.

Boom, a static was born.
