Does it really matter which GC you choose? I thought i read something saying the stats on the gear are slightly different, but now I can't find it again. FWIW, this character will primarily be a paladin for end game stuff.

It wont matter as far as end game goes, since all the gear you will use is non-GC gear (except maybe sword until you get something better)

I'd say just pick the one you feel fits you best, wont regret it later.

Presently, no difference other than Hunt Log targets I believe.

I found this when I searched for it online, not sure if it's accurate, in the end choose the one you like best:

Quote:
From what I read the Twin Adder is more for the mage types, healers and magical DPS, while the Immortal Flames are more for physical DPS, like Dragoon and Pugilists. Maelstrom are said to be more tank inclined.

Guess I'll just go with the Flames since I started in Ul'dah and it's the city I know best.

Edit: There are so many sites out there with partial information about this game. If I knew anything about website design and hosting and stuff like that, I would totally compile it into one website to rule them all and one website to bind them. Oh well, guess I'll just have to bounce around beween different websites for now.

I went with Immortal Flames too, but mainly because it looked the coolest and was the most like a Jason Statham movie of any of the cutscenese I saw of the three...

This was true in 1.23 yeah, currently eh..not so much the GC does favor your starting classes that's for sure but they all basically universal.

Pick whichever you like as there is no real difference and you can always switch. In fact if you want all 3 of the GC minions you have to switch and rank up anyway.

This game really needs a WoWhead type site for it. There is so much information it needs to be in an easily searchable database format. The only problem is, the game is so new that I bet a lot of stuff isn't 100% confirmed yet, like boss drops in dungeons and stuff like that.

For Coin and Country!

Edit: I suppose you could pick based on salute. One of the salutes looks kinda like the military salute in Attack on Titan.

There isn't a lot of clear information on that subject, the reason is because it largely doesn't matter.

I went with the Maelstrom, because lady Roe with sideburns. 'Till sea swallows all!

I think the system requirements for using that website are higher than the actual game Smiley: lol

Seriously though, it's completely unusable on several portable devices, such as an iPod 4th gen. It's somewhat usable on a Kindle Fire HD but pretty unresponsive, otherwise it would be a great ressource.

Nope, don't have a working PC next to the PS3.

I'll pass your suggestions on to the dev team, I don't think mobile is our focus but maybe they can turn off some stuff for mobile browsers. I dunno, I'm a UI coder in C++, this web stuff is all voodoo as far as I'm concerned Smiley: tongue

Honestly I can say the priority will be low what with SE's official app and all.

SE has an app for FFXIV? Why was I not told of this?

And yes, www.ffxivdb.com won't even load on my work PC. I haven't tried it on my home PC, which can run XIV no high settings and bake bread without breaking a sweat, but that's because, if I'm home, I'm playing not researching.

The official one is called Libra Eorzea
http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/pr/special/libraeorzea/

They have a database on the Lodestone but it's not nearly as user friendly as xivdb.com
http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/item/

Also, http://www.ffxivdb.com/ is the Disciples of the Land one. I use ZAM's http://xivdb.com/ Both sites run on my phone so I don't know what issues you may be running into.

FFXIVDB is not ours, http://xivdb.com is. Depending on your browser, it should work in some form. If javascript is blocked it won't obviously, but it even works in crappy old IE8 on my work computer.

Yes, sorry, I meant xivdb.com. And yes, it appears to be restrictions on my work computer.

The database doesnt work at all on my home pc (the one i use to play ff14) with internet explorer, any version. Chrome and firefox do work though. And before anyone says lolinternetexplorer, some people do use it and should work with the database.

Mine looked like that too but loaded after a few moments. I'm guessing you let it go longer than that. Can I get browser info from you? If you're at work and they have blocked things we may not be able to help but I can pass the info along at any rate.

Edit: also you don't have any add ons like no script running right? Those will kill the site.

oddly enough its working now. it wasn't a few days ago, but my PC updated IE to version 11 (the new one) that may have done it. I was using IE 10 before and it for sure was doing that. as far as I'm aware I wasn't running anything special script wise. it's too bad it still isn't working or I could give you more details about what I had set :(

It works on my work PC (Internet Exploder 9) and my home PC (I use Chrome at home), but the images take forever to load - same on Chrome on my Nexus 7, which is generally what I use when I'm playing: I'll use the CAAS website which then links to the database.
