Anyone finding their battery on them is starting to go? Husband reckons his is - just wondering if he might be right or not. Mine seems fine - but I have always had a terrible habit of not logging out wherever possible so haven't used mine as much (we shall ignore the 1.0 alpha test where you were hammering the thing).

My fob is still going strong six plus years after I first purchased it. I have no idea how you can tell if the battery is dying though.

I've been using mine since they came out and haven't noticed any battery decay. That's using it 1 or more times a day too.

I just bought a new one last week because my display was dimming when I used it for the code. It would be mildly dark when I pushed it but would fade quickly.

It's only $11. I figured I could just pony that up and have a fresh one than crack it open to replace the battery.

Bought mine when they first released. Still using it without trouble.

I also have an FFXIV one that came with the 1.0 CE that's never been used so I guess I'm good for some time yet!

Lucky! I didn't get the 1.0 CE (unfortunately), but I wanted that token pretty bad.

I've got one of the original XI tokens from when they were first offered. I'm convinced I need to push the button harder to make the number show compared to when I first got it, but I haven't noticed any dimming or anything.

Once I took the token with me on a trip to Denver, and when returned to normal atmospheric pressure the air pressure kept the button depressed for a few hours after we landed. Didn't seem to have any lasting effects though.

There is supposed to be a low battery indicator on the Digipass, but i'm having trouble finding specifics.

The SE terms of service references the warning, but provides little info:

Quote:
If your Security Token shows low batteries please disable your Security Token registration or obtain a new Security Token.

Hehe, I live a thousand feet higher than Denver at 6000 feet elevation. When I open soup cans they explode everywhere. On a good note though, My Coca Cola and Dr Pepper are never flat. Smiley: boozing

I have one of the first ten issues - won mine in a ZAM contest and got it before they officially went on sale. I think I was the 2nd person to activate it.

Battery is still fine on mine, despite years of daily use. They had an estimated lifespan of 5 years.

I had one of the original ones. I bought it when they first came out for FFXI, but it finally died on me last month. I had to call in to SE to get it deactivated and now use the software token.

So yes, the battery could be going on it. When mine started to go I had to start pressing the button harder and slightly longer (a second or so compared to instant results). I never saw a low battery indicator on it though, so I'm not sure about that :(

Got one of the originals when they were first released. Still seems to be working fine after years of almost daily use.
