Does anyone happen to know of a _current_ app capable of exploring the FFXIV:ARR dat files? Much of what i'm finding is 2 years old. I don't need nor want to change anything, and i'm curious about all of the data (so not just models... i have also seen specifically model viewers).
If anyone has any info, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. :)

Yeah, plenty of them. Problem is no one is sharing the tools or want to share the tools. There's one that's shared to the public but you have to know about the dat structure to even get any use of it. For example if you want models, it won't display models. If you want "hidden goodies" you have to know how to decrypt the dats or convert them to a readable format yourself.
ARR is more popular than 1.x was, but it's not popular enough with a lot of public tool authors.

It's in French, but you just click the Fichier menu, then select Ouvrir to open one of the dat files in SquareEnix\game\sqpack\ffxiv folder. It can view textures and export them to png, and play music files, but it can't open 3d models.
