is wanders palace the best and fastest place to get the most tomes the fastest? if noot what is? (i.e if theres a place that only gives 50 but you can do it 2 or 3 times in the time it takes to do WP once I would consider that faster). Also how long does sa norml (non speed) run of WP take? how long does a speedrun take? What kind of gear do you have to have to be considered "speed run ready"?

Im gonna need about 6k tomes to get everything I want... thats 60 runs of WP... Id be ok with that if iu could get 10 runs a day.. but thats not gonna happen oif it takes an hour to complete each run lol. now back in my ffxi days when i didnt work 40 hours a week (or ANY hours a week for that matter) I could easily play 10+ hhours a day everyday. now however I dont have that luxury lol.

A "normal" run I would say is between 25-35 mins in WP

You can get faster runs the better geared everyone is

Most speed runs want decked out Bards and Black Mages

With a properly geared party, Garuda speed running is pretty amazing. Sub 5 minute runs. To me it's less boring than repeat dungeon runs and people get stuff they can use. But yes, currently WP is the standard.

You have a lot of options. They're all comparably as fast.

If you're just starting out Praetorium is honestly the fastest and the easiest. As a tank I would often queue for groups in progress and get a group that was halfway through the dungeon almost instantly. It shaves off like 20 minutes each time which makes for faster farming. Ofc, this is inconsistent.

WP is probably another good place- you don't have to be super well geared to clear it, but your runs will be taking ~40 minutes if you're new to the dungeon and not optimally geared.

Don't start thinking about speed runs until you have the gear to do it properly, otherwise it'll just be a frustrating wipefest.

Yeah, WP is probably the go-to dungeon for Philosophy tomes. I'd say a normal run is gonna take about 25-40 minutes if no one dies and everyone knows what to do. A real speed run probably takes about 8-12 minutes, but by the time you can do that, you probably have most of the Philosophy tome items you're gonna want.

There are reasons to do other things, though. HM Ifrit and Garuda weapons will be better than most everything else (unless you've got a bit of $$$) until you get your relic. The gear and accessories from AK are also pretty good until you replace them with Darklight or iLvl 70 crafted stuff.

Depends on class but when overmelded some of those crafted items are best in slot. You'll see some on the market probably with 5 melds or similar.

I know what you're saying though, for the price it's generally not worth the effort. Certainly on your first class at 50 this is the case, unless you've come across a mountain of gil somehow. I can see myself looking at them a bit harder on second and subsequent classes simply because I'm going to have way more gil available.

#9DuoMaxwellxx, Posted: Nov 08 2013 at 11:48 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) why is that an LOl ive seen threads and even topics on this very board claiming that crafting and crafted gear is rendered useless because of the stuff you can get in dungeons
#10REDACTED, Posted: Nov 09 2013 at 6:40 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Silly me. Someone (who?) said crafted ilvl 70 gear is useless on here so it must be the case. Make sure to laugh at those silly noobs with their expensive crafted gear when you see them around. Only do it when others can see what you type though.
#11DuoMaxwellxx, Posted: Nov 09 2013 at 10:41 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) hey thats however everyone on here acts.. if you disagree with anything they say you get rated down, so everything they say MUST be correct.. so in that case yes crafted gear is useless...
