Starting To Get Bored or Maybe FFIV ARR Is Not For MeFollow

#1 Oct 27 2013 at 12:41 PM Rating: Default
Hello Everyone

Well as of lately I've been finding myself bored of this game or don't feel like playing it, not sure if I just burned myself out by deleting multiple character under level 10 mainly due to looks, classes. I do know that one character can be all of the classes but I'm more an alt type player and for this game I rather only have two character's one for DoW and the other for DoM.

My highest character's I have so far is a level 13 Lalafell arcanist and a level 11 Hyur lancer, the arcanist was my first character and I did enjoy playing it and maybe that's my problem I might hold of leveling my lancer and my other character I made last night on a different server which is a thaumaturge also a Lalafell. I would also like to mention I haven't made any friends yet or join any free companies yet, and this could be another reason why I am getting bored of this game or it might just be that FFXIV ARR might not be for me.

There are other games that I would love to try out again but ATM having trouble with remembering info for 1 game and other one I don't want to pay for a sub and then quit few days later, so I'm trying to get free days from them. The only game that I enjoy playing and still do even know I haven't played in a few weeks now due to burn out, is Tera Online by far my favorite mmo out there.

As of the moment I don't see myself subscribing to FFXIV ARR when my free time is up and I still got like 22-24 days left.

So I'm not sure what to do here, maybe all I need to do is make friends or find a good free company to join with friendly players, anyways I would like to hear your opinions on what I could do to make my last 20 some days enjoyable I don't want them go to waste.

My advice: stop messing around with a bunch of alts, and get in to the meat of the game.

At level 13, you've barely scratched the surface.

Because getting to LV 13 takes about half an hour.

There's your answer. Nobody is holding you back! If you don't like the game, that's that. There is no band-aid fix for your problem;
no matter how many others tell you how great the game is @LV50, or how good the storyline is - you'll never get that far anyway
if you are already bored at LV 13. My advice: TERA might be your best bet. If you like it, play it. Don't waste your time with something
you don't enjoy.

My initial thoughts as well, fail troll is fail.

Although I did have dumb *** friend who played WoW who spent about 90% of his time making alts, only to level them like 10 levels and decide he didn't like the race/look/class and just delete it so...wait, Matt is that you???????

As I said in my original post, I said it could be one of the reasons or very minor and now I have character's that I like the looks of. I think that I just don't like this game then again maybe I haven't gotten to the good part yet.

I knew I was going get trolls and flames on here, thanks to those who actually replied with good comments ETC.

For players who know what they are doing may be.
My GF is Level 8 with like 30 hours of playtime.
She's not in a hurry and it's her first MMO.

I personally find having friends in game help a lot. Find a chatty LS or FC that fits your style, and go from there. But then again, it could be that it's really just not for you, and there isn't anything wrong with that. Not all games to speak to everyone the same.

Good luck!

A good FC or LS makes the days that suck, more enjoyable. You are constantly on the grind for you but the days that you take the time to help a friend, its always time well spent. That carries over to life too.

My first post about the game came when I had a single level 10 character. I was not pleased, since all he'd done up to that point was run around Ul'dah, talk to NPCs who sent me to talk to other NPCs, and just barely leave the city to kill a few moles. But after level 15, things picked up. That's when you get the opportunity to do dungeons (in fact, you have to, as part of the main storyline). Then at level 20, things picked up again. And at level 30.

So the advice I have for the OP here comes from personal experience- give it a few more levels and group up with folks for those first three dungeons. It gets a _lot_ more fun.

This game is structured in such a way that having “alts“ is not necessary. You can play all of the classes on a single character. Honestly though, if you aren't enjoying the game by now, then it's probably not for you. I was enamored from the start. I even enjoyed reading about the background of the different guilds and classes, exploring new areas, trying out basic mechanics of the different classes. There is a lot to like, even early on.

With the way the armor in this game is done, if you're a GLD or a MRD you will quickly get to the point where you don't even see your character's face any more....

I had a problem like this in phase 2/3 of beta.

I tried so many "alts" that I was kinda burnt out on the early levels. I had an Elezen Archer, a Hyur Lancer, and another Hyur Gladiator. I didn't want to do this, but the game was so fun that I kinda burnt myself out. I only got up to level 20.

When release came out I took it a bit slow and tried a class, PUG, that I didn't play before and it gave me a bit of energy to get past 20, and from there it was smooth sailing.

2 months later and I still have tons to do. I'm about halfway done with my relic quest. My FC is great. And after my relic and grinding AK/WP and others dungeons for darklight and other gear, I'll probably level MRD to endgame, because it seems fun. By that time 2.1 should be out, or else I'll be running Coil with the FC, or others.

Please do! There's by far too few of those axe-touting lunatics out there right now.
Yoshida already mentioned that they'll get a major overhaul in one of the next patches;
and I can already hear the screams of envy of all those Paladins, hahaha!

My philospohy is, if you need others to convince you to stay then its not for you.

I never really understand why ppl ask this. if you are not enjoying it/becoming bored, nothing anyone can say will change that.
(not that it is a bad thing really, this mmo cant please everyone, none in existance do ^^)

You gotta like it instinctually....its kinda obvious i would say O.o

That is very very impressive. Might I ask how? I mean you get good exp from everything, from exploring new areas quest killing mobs logs fates, I just find it hard to think that after 30 hrs of game play you would only be at 8,

Such a sad thing too. I actually remove the armor that covers the face when I'm not going to battle for this reason alone.

I think there's a setting to not show the head armor.

Also, if usable on the piece you can /visor

Yeah, it's right in the character tab. No need to unequip your helmet if you want to show your character's face.

The problem with the pld/mrd gear is that it's combined head and body slot, so not only can you not /visor (doesn't work), you can't remove the head slot either since it's all attached. It's too bad, because the armor itself is rather cool, but being in cutscenes where you're trying to talk to someone or even convey emotion through your character stinks because you can't even see the face. Also, for MRD/WAR at least, there are MAJOR clipping issues with your axe when it's on your back in that armor. And when you wield a giant great axe, you don't want to hide it...

I failed trying to make an alt too. Maybe its being "anti social" or the dirt poor first part of the game but it took more than week to get arc and conj above lv10 then I just stopped force playing 30 minutes a day.It was too painful when I have a main to fail on. Joining a free company or whatever the linkshell is called now should make the game better.

Yeah, the chest pieces that restrict headgear but give a ton of armor. I just use a normal chest piece and a helmet. ***** it, I wanna see my character, and the stats are pretty much the same anyway.

I do use the legs from those sets though because they're massively armored and look awesome.

It sucks that right now, at 50, you go from AF, where you have gear for each slot, to DL, where you are now reduced down to a body piece, and a leg piece, until you finally spend your year and a half collecting mythology to get into something you can actually tell what your character looks like again...

I'll respond only because I see you have actually replied again to the thread.

But I have to be honest... your first post on Zam's FFXIV forum was this thread... most people will consider that a troll and rate you down pretty hard.

If you really don't think this game is for you, then consider some other games instead. Perhaps you're just not that into MMORPG's. I see you also posted a complaint thread in the Rift forum.

Or perhaps you should focus on the positive... FFXIV is actually working for you, even though Rift is not.... Smiley: grin

FFXIV:ARR honestly has all of the best components of the MMO genre all in one game... if you don't like this game after hitting only level 13... then I'm thinking you should try a different genre altogether.

She is enjoying the ambient, watching the sky for minutes from time to time. She's reading every single tooltip and quest, looking threw all of the menus and so on.
She's chatting with people that pass by and so on.

Like I said she is not in a hurry and it is here first MMO well to be fair it is here first "real game" outside of handy apps.
