market ward/retainer = too time consumingFollow

How do you all deal with the cumbersome and time consuming functionality of identifying/selling items? I have 2 full retainers and decided it's time to sell some stuff, but quickly realized, being that the market ward and your retainers are not connected, that I have to write down over 200 items, go to the ward, check history on all items, then back to retainer to sell. This, to get a greater sense of which of my items are even worth selling. I guess I could blindly pick 10-20 ramdom items I have and do the process, but then I'm not maximizing my effort, time, and profit cabability.

They need to be connected. Meaning, when you open the market ward, an option to open 1 of 2 retainers should be accessable at the same time. It should be no different than opening the market ward and your inventory at the same time. And it would be nice to be able to drag/drop an item in the search field and have it auto populate to make the search process more convenient.

Half of my crap is going to just get npc'd because I don't have the time to keep going back and forth between market ward and retainers, with the time it takes to do so.

The market wards are all connected.

You can sell + check everything from your retainer.. After you click Add to market (Or something like that), click the history tab in the top right and you can see the prices of the last 20-25 sold, The only thing you need market for is for buying..

You probably missed out some of the "hidden" function that retainers have. i have to admit it's difficult to spot for new people. All retainers are connected to the market wards, and you can check all items history through your retainers without having to go to the wards.

When you want to sell your items, a window should pops out where you set the price & quantity. At the top right of the window, you should see a symbol. I can't remember, but I think it looks like an Antenna. Click on it and it should display the list of items that's currently on sale of the chosen item. Again, on the right top corner of that window list, there should be another icon. This icon will list the history of items that are already sold, complete with date/time. So you can plan out your stuffs.

So far I've no difficulties using the retainers. Easy and simple.

The above totally gave info, so I'm just adding to it.

You can access your retainer from the Summon Bell, both in an Inn Room and near w/e Market you use.

Here is a pic:

Screenshot

Basically I picked the option (from the retainer window) Sell Item from Your Inventory (Retainer's just opens their bag, so same for the next part). In the pic I selected item from bag, animal skin. Now I could hit the Confirm button and on to the market it goes..or.. Near X at the top of that window, you see the Paper Icon, it's left bottom corner is folded. This is the View market history button. Clicking that would show be what the current price of a skin is.

This was a feature I didn't know about util I made a thread with features I would like to see added/think should be in the game. So it cut down the needing to write or remember what stuff was going for, and for you the need to run back and forth (maybe you didn't know there was a summoning bell near the market boards?)

All wards are connected look at the city colors next to the item that's where you're buying it from. Look at the city color its the taxes you look at to see is it cheaper to warp to the next city to buy from there. Throw the pad away Rmt people controlled the market since the beta they aren't going away, prices only drop when real players undercut them to sell thing. It's all about recent sells click on the item then click the paper icon to see what sold recently. If it's not HQ or special item be happy to sell it just above what a NPC would pay for it and if a HQ items selling cheap just fill up your retainers to hold on things to sell for the long haul and play the game. In 1.0 I could play the market this time it's to much to put control stats on all my jobs to keep up with the premium HQ sales.

Sadly if others were like me, they began to get annoying so you clicked to turn them off..and yea..now you have to hit "P" and find the Help Button to see all the useful info you decided wasn't useful -.-"

Eh, my /fail. I logged in after reading responses and figured it out. But hey, if I didn't post, I probably wouldn't have ever known. Thanks for the help, and the, uh, rate downs.

It's an overly complicated system. Too many steps and intricacies. I don't know why they didn't just go with a standard Auction House. There's a reason all other MMOs have them: they work.

Agreed!

The retainer system is a relic left over from 1.0 I believe... there was no AH in 1.0 so you could hire retainers to stand there and sell stuff out of their bazaar. Otherwise you had to leave your character standing there while you AFK'd and sold out of your bazaar.

It's been so long since I played 1.0 (and only for a few days at that) so if I'm wrong please correct me.

Wouldn't it be nice if when you moused over items you wanted to sell a tool tip would pop up giving you helpful metrics to inform your decisions? Ya I know I'm a jerk.

Well, the retainer system in 2.0 is light-years ahead of 1.0. And it works OK so far.

However (as someone stated in another thread) I'd like to see a couple improvements/features. A buy order system and/or more functionality in the retainers to auto-buy and auto-sell based off of market conditions. The ability to summon a retainer in the field as well.

It's bliss compared to 1.0.

Again, they need a tool tip window that pops up your currently equipped gear when you are shopping. I keep having to close out to double check the stats on my equipped gear to see if the item I want to buy is better.

You can simply hit "C" while you're on the Market Board window, and your equipment window will pop up, same for your inventory. All still accessable while using the market boards, the windows just close when you interact with it at the market board window pops up, they never close if you re-opened them while browsing.

Agreed. My "C" button is mapped to something else, and my screens resolution is on the lower side making having too many open windows a chore to position.

I just want a tooltip next to my current gear and/or plus minus vs stats.

When there's more than 2 stats I get confused. Was that +10 skill speed or +10 determination? Checking back and forth does get tedious.

This needs to be done with pieces from the armory chest as well.

I would have to dig but I am sure I read a Dev post that better tooltips when comparing gear was being worked on.
