PS3 Controller Macros possible? Follow

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if on PS3 anyone makes macros to use combo abilities like HT-VT-FT all in one button on the controller (is that even possible)...I find that I have sooo many abilities and only 16 slots (on my main tab I find it hard to flip flop tabs) but about 24 abilities I want to be able to use.

I never use VT or FT without HT first so it makes sense to group them

So
A- does anyone do this and have examples?

B- Does it work?

C- Do I need to bother?

If you check the system menu, you'll see there is a macro creation feature. You can program your own action sequences using text commands, give it an icon, and add it to your action bar. It's limited in the sense you can't see the cooldown timer on the icon or the cost of running the macro (as in how much mp, tp or hp), but otherwise it will save you a little space.

Oh Thank you...I saw the macro section but didn't think it was possible on PS3

Does anyone do this? Or should I just pick the best 16 and use those

Just trying to get an idea of what is best to max my DPS

I have a few macros on my smn for casting DoT. It's a good way to clear some space on your primary hotbar.

Another thing you can try is to lock the first 2 or 3 hotbars when your weapon is out. Not sure if it's under system or character configuration but you can set it so R1 will only cycle between bar 1 and 2 when in combat and between all your bars when your weapon is sheathed.

Macros are a great way to improve your gameplay, especially for crafting automation that's not considered botting. Not specific to PS3 though. The macroicon function will make the icon behave as though that is what you were casting even if it's doing other things (visible cooldown). There are lot of creative things you can do once you nail down all the available variables. You can't have a macro call another macro. Endless loops are bad.

Here are some that I am using. You'll need to disable error messages if you don't want these cluttering up your chat window, since they are calling multiple actions of which only the first successful action will be executed. I removed them from "General" but made sure "Event" displayed any errors.

[ Cure ] (mouseover nice because it works from party menu)
/macroicon Cure
/ac Cure <mo>
/ac Cure <t>
/ac Cure <me>

[ Cure <tt> ] (cure's your target's target so you can attack them and heal your tank w/o switching targets)
/macroicon Cure
/ac Cure <tt>
/ac Cure <me>

[ AnyAttackSkill ] (if you get a good Tank who marks enemies, will auto-attack the right one)
/macroicon AttackSkill
/ac AttackSkill <attack1>
/ac AttackSkill <attack2>
/ac AttackSkill <attack3>
/ac AttackSkill <t>

Yes, I do it. I have my abilities on DRG macroed like this:

True Thrust/Vorpal Thrust/Full Thrust

Feint/Phlebotomize (might add Fracture in there from MRD)

Heavy Thrust/Ring of Thorns

Impulse Drive/Disembowel/Chaos Thrust

Now that I'm working on MRD, I just made a couple new macros:

Enmity Combo (Heavy Swing/Skull Sunder)

Damage Combo (Heavy Swing/Maim)

Seems to be working alright for me so far.

yes; it is possible:
the macro True Thrust/Vorpal Thrust/Full Thrust works well:
you have to put /wait 2.5 so that it can works ... (you will lose some cents of second on yr GCD ... depending in your skill speed).
You can also put some abilities (out of the GCD) among and this is also fine ... something like
wait 1.0
/ac "What you want out of GCD" <me> (or <t>)
wait 1.5
this is good because if you have the ability ready you fire it, otherwise you do not lose time and you can put 2 of them between the three actions.
You can have also other macro like Heavy Thrust (+10 % dam)/Fracture (from MRD a DoT)/Pheblotomize (an other DoT)
this also is good for starting as a "buff" macro i.e. you put at the beginning tour action with the damage over time effect that max your damage (when they expire ... for long battle you can reapply) .. also in this macro you can put a couple of "out of GCD" actions.-
then you have Impulse Drive/Dishembowel/Chaos Thrust (level 50 and the best damage outputting) because the damege over time of the action Chaos Thrust.
