8 Man LeechersFollow

#1 Oct 16 2013 at 3:44 PM Rating: Decent
Has anyone else noticed an increasing problem with 8 man leechers? Basically I have been noticing a trend of players that run 8 mans like CM and just put the group on follow and then AFK the entire instance without casting a spell. I assume they are near by and just watch TV or something. A ran a CM last night where we had both a WHM and DRG leeching in the same group. Neither of them used a single ability the entire run. We still cleared the instance and they got their 100 tomes. Sadly, there is no "vote kick" feature, so they are able to do this quite successfully. The only thing to do is to report them for.....exploiting? I really have no idea, but for me this is even lower than botting.

I saw this in a CM run I did a few days ago, a WAR called Something Zero (I know Zero was in the name, not sure whether it was first or last name) just stood at the starting area the entire run, yet he was the first to leave when the final boss died.

SE really needs to step up their game against cheating. No ability to kick someone from DL, bots running rampant, insta level 50 crafting hacks and god knows what else.

I understand that you are committed to trolling, but can you at least attempt to troll on topic? Thanks

For philo tome, helping friends, RP, etc.

But yeah Squenix need to put "vote kick" or at least some sort "non-contribution" reporting system.

Not trolling at all, and it's totally on topic, but the sub default really does point out how ignorant people are. I was trying to help people, and chose to not spoon feed, didn't get taken the right way I guess.

After the update Wanderer's Palace is now a better farming option than CM, hands down. 100 Philo and 30 Mythos.

Why anyone would subject themselves to CM if they have this option is beyond me. You need twice the members, risk coming across more idiots in DF, make less money from mobs, plus it's now slower than WP due to the changes to mob behavior. Helping FC mates is the only reason you should really be doing CM now.

People got their wish with SE giving good reasons to not farm the story missions, but it seems the population is a bit slower on the uptake than I'd assumedSmiley: grin

Avoiding certain content due to clear design flaws in the game is not an appropriate solution. If players wish to run any instance of their choice they should be able to do so without being subjected to others exploiting poor game design (in this case that fact that there is no “vote kick“ feature). How is simply suggesting to avoid entire dungeons being helpful? Have you stopped to consider that perhaps some players enjoy the dynamics of 8 man groups, and that perhaps they actually enjoy the occasional CM or Prae run? Sure they could just run WP instead, because as you noted, it is now more rewarding. However, I for one, do not enjoy continuously farming the same instance over and over again. It's nice to have the freedom to switch it up, and in large that was the entire point of the most recent hotfix itself.

The question the OP posed was asking if others had noticed a recent problem with other players leeching 8 man instances. I was asking for observations to see if this issue was becoming a widespread epidemic (which would further accentuate a design flaw), or had I just been having a streak of bad luck? Your reply, which stated “The real question is why are you still running CM....“ did nothing to address the objective of the OP, and thereby added nothing to the thread. I would classify this as a troll.

Now I would appreciate it if we could get back to the topic posed by the OP, as I remain interested in exchanging information regarding this issue with fellows members of the FFXIV community.

#8REDACTED, Posted: Oct 16 2013 at 9:38 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It's been stated hundreds of times that the community is in general quite fine. This topic has been beaten to death by countless people, and the same sensible response comes out every time. I grow tired of this talk of an "epidemic" of bad culture, as if those doing the complaining are the perfect shining example of a model player.
