No spoilers but am I correct that the main storyline has quests for every level 1-46 then suddenly jumps to 49 Operation Archon? I'm just confused at 46 now having to grind out 1.3ish million xp doing fates to advance. Seems odd. Did I miss a questline?

No. That happens.

What also happens is that a handful of quests will open up for every level between 46 and 49 at the HQ in Vesper Bay.

THIS^^ is correct at lv 46 there are quests that open up in Vespar bay that will take you to a lot of spots that will open a few more quests Like in Ale port and Such... But don't forget, Unlocking areas and zones at lv 46-50 gets you 1500-2000 xp and almost 20k a complete unlock of the zone Xp per area unlock and Zone is a percentage of what lv you are.. so if like 10 your gonna get like 100 per where at 46 you will get like 1500 per
