I've fought Ifrit probably 30-40 times and have beat him 20-25 times and I haven't even seen Ifrit's claws once.

As a MNK the fight is pretty easy. I usually take out the nails if there's no BLM and have stunned in a pinch in some fights.

I almost want to give up and just get my GC weapon. But now its like I've gotten this far, I might as well keep trying.

Actually if I'm not in a rush, or don't think about my weapon not dropping the whole process isn't too bad. After work I log on, queue up, mine, get a couple of successful runs in and its not too bad...But after the fight if I see one of those books instead of the claws I want to strangle something.

LOL, at least you are getting through. I just completed the story line and queued up twice for Ifrit HM this morning before work. Both times the healer dropped because we did not have BLM in the group.

I will knock it out tonight after work with my FC but now I understand what people are talking about with DF woes.

I'm in the same boat as you, except I saw my drop just to get out lotted by the drg on his first run

Put it this way way, I bought a couple pieces of DL doing Ifrit HM before my claws dropped. Melee weapons minus the sword are rare it seems compared to the mage weaps. I know these rates vary for everyone, but the ACN, WHM and BLM weapon almost had a 50% drop rate for me. The lance I saw 3 times, Axe twice, sword about 10 times and claws 3 times (got out lotted twice).

That being said, others I spoke to had the claws dropping often, so it's RNG at it's finest.

Thats what I was worried about. I kinda joked that I'd have enough tomes to buy all of my DL gear... So far I have just an eye patch, and almost enough for another accessory.

Ive seen every weapon at least twice so far.

I know its just probability, but I can't help but think that those failed runs were the ones that were going to drop claws.

Done the fight a dozen or so times myself as tome filler for the last 20. Haven't seen a BLM staff yet. Don't think there's any weighting like was implied for mage weapons, as I think I've seen 'em all but staff so far.

It took me 30 kills on warrior before I saw the axe drop, most of the time I wasn't even lotting against anyone as people leave prematurely when seeing 2 warriors grouped together.

Chances are there that you have to beat it 40+ times varying on how many monks you're lotting against.

Random is random, I see Claw all the times. Besides, you can skip Ifrit weapon and farm Garuda before going to Titan HM. Either HQ iLvl 55, GC or DL weapons are fine, they are just minuscule weaker than Ifrit.

I've done it about 20 times on my paladin and never seen ifrit blade which is funny because people in my FC complain about ifrit blade dropping all the time. So annoying

Almost a week later still no weapon running ifrit multiple times a night

This has really impeded my gearing up process instead of getting hundreds of tomes a night I'm barely getting anything

I finally got it.

It took about 60-70 times.

That's all I did last weekend. Early on Sunday it dropped (the first time I've seen it) and I got outrolled.

I ran it about 15 times more, and it dropped again and I was the only MNK in the PT. I was more relieved than anything.

I have two dark light pieces because of it.

----

I wouldn't advise farming Ifrit over again as some have stated. If I wasn't so stubborn, I would have done things differently. I probably could have had a full DL set, a GC weapon and possibly even my relic with the time I've spent on Ifrit.

Maybe if you had a farming group...but otherwise you'd be better off farming Garuda.

Wouldn't advise spending too much time chasing after a particular Primal weapons.

I spent 20 Garuda HM before I got my Garuda sword, and then the 2nd Titan HM DF (like an hour later) I got a clean perfect win victory with random JP pt (they were absolutely awesome) and upgraded to Relic.

Yeah when I look back I think to myself all the time I wasted on a weapon that didn't even last me a week. I should have just went through the relic quest with my gc weapon. I would have been in full dl and have my pld to 50

Certain people/classes can definitely get away from that. If you're DPS though, things can get iffy on the heart due to lack of dmg. I've been in parties where I was the only one with something beyond a GC weapon and we weren't even close to taking the heart down unless we built for LB3, and even then it was shady.

If you're on whm/tank, it's probably not necessary, or if you have a FC to carry you, then it doesn't matter at all.

Only reason I say that cuz all the titan parties I been in were 5 dps 1 tank and that extra dps makes up for lack of weapons. But that just brings me to my only issue I have with this game and that is the quickness in which gear is replaced and becomes obsolete. I mean WP gear is almost -1inv at the rate it is replaced by ak or dl, and AK seems to be replaced as soon as you get it. I just wish there was more situational gear and not have ever step just be across the board better then the last piece and having no meaning to hold on to it

20+ Ifrit HM runs with nothing, then Garuda Drops my wep on the first try.

I'm not complaining one bit.

After you have some decent gear for it, Garuda is pretty easy. So is Ifrit for most parties. If your party doent't know the drill, some politely stated directions will get them the win in no time. Teaching the run is faster than re-queueing!

Same exact thing happened to me! Got my Garuda weapon on first run this weekend. I was one happy cat!

Same here garuda weapon 1st try, fights not overly difficult if ppl take down adds fast enough, i.e. not splitting dps amongst sisters. Now if titan could just go as smoothly I would be happy, but 20+ fights and no go, almost all DF parties but I tried none the less.

Actually, there have been some tests done with various pieces of the WP and AK sets for DPS, and some outperform DL in Coil due to some of the necessary stat caps needed, such as accuracy. So don't toss them out once you get 'em, hang on to at least your AK drops.

WP does not out perform dl at all. Now in coil as a dps you need about 470 acc and for those who don't have some mythology accessories or belt you can downgrade to ak body but only takes a about a week to get belt cuz of cap then back to dl body. This is as a drg.
