Wishful thinking, or have they specifically said they were implementing the feature? SE don't strike me as the type of developers that particularly care about this issue, however, I hope they do implement it. Most of the current armor all looks bland, aside from AF, and I would really love to sport my AF all the time.

They have specifically said it is coming, just not in 2.1.

I think this doesn't need to be a priority with 2.1.

I don't like vanity slots.

I want gear diversity as a solution, not vanity slots. I want side-grades to gear, and a variety of ways to build your character.

Collecting styles was a huge part of why dcuo was so awesome. They need that in every mmo ever. Bring it on and make it robust.

Some of the dungeon gear is great for breaking up the monotony of crafted/quested gear. Right now on Ornlona, I just swap my tops in town to get this awesome all leather look. (Turns out the "hempen" chemise on Roegadyn chicks is made of leather.)

Well, wearing heavy darklight does make one look like a smokestack.

The Battlemage Set (or the DD set from Brayflox) really stand out to me as some great gear design that I saw and absolutely needed. The problem is, there isn't enough of that. You get those at 30 and replace them by 38 and go back to generic robe and hat until AF and then AK then Darklight and everyone looks the same.

But.. I've never played an MMO with vanity slots so I'm not sure how it works. Does it just let you look however you want?

you can still have both.

vanity slots are just to make you look different but get the benefit of stats that you might think are fugly. So if you had to wear those cone hats which i think are the uggliest head gear in the game, you can put something you think looks better in the vanity slot to over it up.

This in no way would stop them from implementing side grade gear

As long as it's restricted to armor type I'm fine with it. Only heavy armor for Paladins, cloth for Black Mages, etc.

The way it worked in Aion, is when you reach lvl30 you're allowed to cover up current armor with existing designs of other armor. The armor to which you want your current armor to look like can be of any level. Head, body, hands, legs, feet can all be remodeled. The bad thing is, the armor you're modeling with, will be lost upon completion of the process, but you can use an in game service to remove the design and get the look of your other armor back.

Basically for a sorcerer for instance, if you like the look of the Lvl28 HQ set, but the level 30 set you're wearing looks stupid, you can replace the design with the lvl28 HQ one.

In Perfect World, there was a fashion system that pretty much functions as a model replace for your armor. You can turn the fashion tab on to view your fashion, or off to view your armor. There's is about.. 40 sets, and you can mix and match.

I'm not sure how SE is gonna implement this.

We get to dye gear at least.

I kind of like recognizing what gear people have on visually. Like in ffxi, it was cool seeing who was wearing a Kirins Osode (when they were still rare) despite the gear not matching much other gear.

What's wrong with macroing a set of "vanity" gear for when you are not fighting, just hanging around town?

My usual gripe with vanity gear is how it often needs to suck up inventory slots. I wish once you spirit bonded something you'd "learn" that look for life, perhaps limiting specific appearances to appropriate classes, but just thinking about having raft AF for all professions in the future on top of combat jobs just makes me cringe a little before even wanting to just look pretty.

It is too bad it wont be implemented in 2.1 but as long as they do get it ingame eventually then great.!!

It is necessary imo and something that many players will utilize and enjoy. Rift has the one of the best vanity systems imo, hope it is similar to that and not like wows transmogrification.

on a side note: they do allow us to dye some armor, but really need to lift that restriction as well for dungeon gear, and allow dying of secondary "puke" brown that is on every armor almost Oo

nothing worse then a nice pink base with ick brown throughout -.-

It would be nice if there was vanity slots sooner rather than later. Even with the hide helmet option, my Warrior's face is covered up, so I feel like my character customization was useless.
