Increasing issues with lag (NA/EU servers)Follow

Just wondering if anyone else is having these issues? It's not severe, but my log and the animations on Primal fights is updating slowly and I'm dying and looking like a fool. I know full well how the Ifrit fight goes as well as the other dungeons where I'm having issues, but every now and then I get nailed by something that I avoid the second I get a log or visual notification and then I'm dead.

The biggest problem for me is when I raise it moves you to the casters position so I wait until a move happens before clicking ok, but when I do raise it's not always where the healer is and usually even if it's in the clear I die again anyway.

I've been doing a modem reset every time this happens and I'll get a round or two of trouble free DF instance and then it's back to the way it was. I have a pretty good 30mbps connection and my ping isn't terrible to the data center whenever I check it.

Any tips or people stating they have the same issues would be appreciated.

Had 3 of my 8 wipes in story mode Titan caused directly by lag during Landslide.

been having lag issues for the past 2 weeks. its getting really bad, and now i'm seeing more and more people in DF experiencing it too.

I just feel like a **** when I'm in a PUG and drop like that. Last night I think I wiped 4 times in a row, felt terrible, but I'm pretty sure I was doing everything right from what I saw on screen. 3 of the deaths were from raising into a different area that I saw the caster or flat out dieing from the attack I saw already complete before clicking ok :(

It could be that the DF servers are getting swamped again. Maybe they need to divide it down some more.

Ive been runnin all kinds of dungeons like primals, 4 and 8 man dungeons with no lag all. I live in canada so the servers arent across the ocean. Do you live in the EU region? From what i understand your connecting to servers really far Away in the NA region which would cause some lag for sure.

If you dont live in the EU region and have a lot of lag, it could be your IP provider. They dont like P2P connections which some people seem to think is the issue here. IP are slowing you down on purpose so you dont hog all the bandwidth.

Finding the exact cause is kind of difficult because of all the factos involved. Some people have a lot of lag and some dont. Hopefully SE can look into it and release a statement on the issue for those affected.

I'm under the impression that when it comes to lag, there's a difference between lag from your connection and lag caused by your computer.

Typically, if you are able to move around screen and turn the camera without problems, but it says you're out of range even when next to the mob, or you party looks like it's standing still, or you're still hit by a monster even when you moved out of the circle ages ago, these are generally indications of network lag.

If you video stutters when you're in crowded areas, or during large effects animations, or even eventually disconnect from being stalled out, these all indicate your machine is not processing the data fast enough and you're running into hardware limitations.

In my years of playing MMOs most people I hear complaining about lag are probably experiencing lag because they don't have a fast enough machine, or they're running too many other processes on their machines. The next biggest culprit in my experience seems to be having a crappy local ISP, or physical connection issues outside your home.

Once I lived in a house that had really awful internet service, and it wasn't until after years of repeated service calls, and eventually switching to a new ISP, that the new cable guy physically inspected the wiring and fixed it.

I've been getting lag in and out, I'm in NA but i'm on an EU server. I'll guess I'll need to switch once they have world transfer active.

I have mentioned this before but I did open appropriate ports (via my router) and have had a noticeable difference in large scale fates. Nothing crazy but load times for mobs has become better... I am not an IT dude but could be a temp suggestion for ps3 users at least...

That's the odd thing, I've never had issues with the larger Fates at all. The only one I haven't done is Odin or Behemoth but the other biggies I haven't had a single issue. Both my machines are running at 40+ FPS (desktop is running at 60, and that's where I have most of my issues and it's hard wired). I seem to have less lag on my laptop which is on wifi, but I also usually am on my desktop at peak times so I'm going to guess the DF being overloaded and my location (east coast) is the problem?

This issue didn't start until the last maint or roughly around that time frame.

I am playing on an EU server from Tokyo and I personally have not been having any issues. Although, many people in my dungeon parties have been DCing and complaining of lag in dungeons recently. It may in fact be an issue with overload of the DF once again.

I'm thinking this. Although to be quite honest, I'm adverse to splitting the DF groupings even more...it might become a little rough on queue times the smaller the potential pool of players is.

EDIT: Was helping fellow players with story mode Titan and the lag was definitely noticeable. Yeah, those DF servers must need new hamsters already...too bad we gotta wait until Thursday!

I suspect the instance issue goes away when there are multiple places to farm mythology tomestones from. It's pretty annoying thought.

All the instances share servers... No lag tonight, it's mainly been Fri to Sun so the previous guess of DF server load seems most reasonable

We hit an absolute lag wall the second we got to the boss in Darkhold last night - was definitely NOT PC lag since both computers on our connection hit it in exactly the same area (and while mine is clogged up with junk, my husband's definitely isn't!). Was just after tombstone reset though thinking about it which could explain a lot of it as the entire planet are doing their week's.

One thing I've found worked with the red circle latency problem lots of the EU players are struggling with was one of the latency fixes from WoW back when they were having an issue. I now generally have a fighting chance of dodging most stuff.

My friend and I are playing from EU (germany) and just got WAR and SCH to 34.
We have a really hard time with the endboss of Brayflox's.
We've done the dungeon many times and know what to do there but it doesn't matter how fast he's moving out of breath he will always get hit.
Only way to avoid it is to move nonstop which makes things incredible hard for the DDs.

We talked to some other tanks that are playing from EU and all said it is almost impossible to tank from here because of the lag/bad ping problem.

I don't know if it's the server location, the server or both but seeing that Brayflox's is just the beginning of the "real" dungeons I don't think it is enjoyable to play a tanks class for us right now.

My machine is more than capable, my internet connection seems otherwise good (ping is 30-40), but last night i temp d/ced for about 30 seconds on at least 2 occasions, both of which were in instances....several others reported lag spikes in these instances. this is in addition to the general lagginess i get in any crowded open world/town areas. i swear it was not like this at launch. idk.

I'm not really sure if the Brayflox Dragon is because of latency though. His skill simply fires off incredibly fast regardless.
There is the whole point of "I swear i was out of AoE by a mile when it went off and still got hit" thing though, but that's more because your location isnt updated by the server frequently enough.

I did notice it while stunning. If you stun something at 70~80% charge, it's simply going to go off most of the time regardless. But i wrote that off as a simple timing thing.

That all aside, surely SE can program something that checks a hit/miss client-side instead. That shouldnt be hard. It sounds like a simple check:
Server >> Hey this move is going off, are you out of the AoE? 
Client >> Not standing in it! 
Server >> Ok! Miss!


Easy...

Sounds like interesting.
That could indeed be a big part of the problem but anyhow
when I played WHM and went threw that dungeon I got this problem more frequently with EU tanks.
Tanks from NA got out of breath more often.

Is there a way to show ping in FFXIV?
Or anyone got an IP from there server so I can ping it?

Well got a freaking 301ms ping right now -.-

There is a IP for an EU datacenter?
I thought there's only JP and NA one? NA holding the EU servers?
Anyway with the IP listed there I get a ping of 42ms.

Nope there's no EU datacentre - the servers designated EU are simply ones they picked to direct EU players to if they wanted a server where there was more population around during their prime time... all the EU and NA worlds are on the same datacentre in Canada.

We struggled with Brayflox as well - husband was tanking him and running into issues - in the end we beat it with a WAR PLD MNK SCH setup because it was the only way to get through with the jobs we had available!

This is a really, really bad idea. Honestly, SE needs to keep as much server side as possible. Client side is really easy to hack, though after seeing the hacks that exist, they may have made that blunder all over again...

My computer scored nearly 12000 on the benchmark and this still happens to me. It will happen to me and not my wife, or my wife and not me, during the same battle or dungeon. It happens much more often in instances than out in the world too.

It doesn't matter when the issue is server side. Doesn't matter if your PC benchmarked 20,000.

Edit: I always know when famfrit is full.. I will lag to oblivion then get 90k errors and then get tossed into a queue. When I'm finally in game, the lag is horrible to point where I have no choice but the log out.
