1. Is the HUD fully customizable like on PC?
2. Can you have keyboard hotbars?
3. Is the frame rate capped at 30 or 60 FPS?
4. Does the FPS drop much in light party events and do actions ever lag?
5. Does a SSD help a lot?

Thanks!

3. PS3 goes to hell in large FATEs. Animation stalling(but skills still useable) and rendering priority is bad(mobs load last). The former applies to PC too.
4. 30
5. No idea if you can put an SSD in a PS3.

1 and 2 Im not sure about.

As a former PS3 player, I say that the textures are bad, but the playing experience is excellent while outside of large fates. Very little lag in light parties and in dungeons, even when adds appear though it can be slightly rough.

1. Yes.
2. No.
3. Yes, I believe. Can't say for sure, though.
4. Depends on what your light party is doing. And where. Actions definitely lag in very crowded areas. You can turn off effects animations of other players to alleviate some of this.
5. Can't really say. Don't have one.

You're welcome.

I'll try posting my PS3 related question here instead of creating a whole new thread for it. Is there a way to transfer hotbar and gear set definitions from PC to PS3?

I've thought about getting the PS3 version so that I'm not hogging the PC in the evening. I know where the files are to be able to transfer these settings between my PC and laptop. FFXI had a feature that was added later on that let you upload settings like this to the server. Does FFXIV have a feature like this?

Not that I know of, but they will probably have to do something similar when the time comes to transfer from PS3 to PS4. Maybe they'll add PC in the mix while they're at it.

Thanks for the info everyone. I'm a little dissapointed that you can't use keyboard hotbars in addition to the controller hotbar. I'm not sure why SE would leave that out but I guess I'll have to try to cram all abilities onto the controller. I'm going to run the PS3 version while I try to figure out why my computer randomly crashes. Not fun.

The PS3 camera stinks when you get up against the walls in the first boss of amdapoor Keep, or when you move as dd to kill the feathers in Garuda HM. In both instances, the camera automatically swtiches from the wide overhead you have set to zoomed fully in camera behind the head view. Really annoying.

I just read through Yoshi's Game Watch interview, and this came up. He said they have plans for this, but didn't give any indication as to "when".

1.) No. The missing components are regular on-screen Hotbars, the Mini-icon bar, Inventory grid, Gil display, the ability to dock additional chat boxes, and direct keyboard Keybinds for the Mount and Sprint abilities (or basically anything you need to have on a regular Hotbar to directly keybind).
2. No.
3. 30fps.
4. Yes.
5. You mean if you have the PC version? I'm going to go with yes. I upgraded to a SSD in between beta and release and (besides the nearly instant Windows load on start-up) it seems that in FFXIV areas load faster when crossing a zoneline. Could just be my imagination.

I heard that you can put an SSD in the PS3. Now that I'm home I'll look into it myself. I'd be surprized if the SSD didn't improve PS3 performance by quite a bit.
