FFXIV Name change RequestFollow

Interested in making this happen, via 30day like change appearance or a bonus code or <insert your idea here>. Any ideas on where to post & request from SE? Please make a post if your interested. One time use of this would be privilege. A concern would be trying to overcome the policy of SE not to change account name thus char name as well.

Seeing some of the well chosen names out there I can't imagine why anyone would want to change?

Reasons to change:
- add an extra x to Sephiroth
- spell Naruto correctly
- switch from Stark to Targaryen
- found a better kitty kat pun

Some other MMOs offer this type of service but usually for a fee. XI never had anything like that, but you could switch servers which "might" cause a name change. But given that they have talked about having a barbershop at one point in the game, I can't see why the won't offer a race/sex change for a nominal fee. It might not happen for awhile, but I can certainly see them doing it in the future considering it'll only make them more money. Hell, I'd probably pay - people get bored of their pixels.

In FFXI the server got pretty close-knit and if you played enough, you had a reputation tied to your name (and also to your linkshell). Not sure if this will develop in FFXIV, but it probably will to some extent. The disadvantage of allowing name changes at will is it allows an established character with jobs, gear, money, progress done to "disappear" possibly after doing something unsavory like steal an item or bank. Obviously you could just change servers too. That said, I'm for name changes being allowed, because not liking your name makes it not as fun to play.

You get a potion after 7 consecutive days of playing in the moogle mail that lets you alter your character once.

That doesnt include name-changes, since over obviously anyone who didnt think about their name and named it something retarded deserves every little bit it has comming.

Dont like your name? Remake your character.
Dont want to remake your character? You shouldn't have named it "Cloudsquall Sephiroth" or "Soracloud penisville".

There is no reasonable argument someone can give for changing their name without having been fully aware the character name they chose was one just meant for trolling or one they had to know they wouldnt like further down the line...

Interesting stuff. The 30 days reset( or is it 7days?) for appearance doesnt change name though its helps abit in place of name change. Ya, some of the name changes n disreputable behavior prevent it from happening. I tried running around holding 'Z'(turns of names) which makes everyone seem like an npc. Feels wierd...
My issue was I jumped in registered & realized my old ffxi name is way better alittle late. Like mentioned, it adds some continuity from ffxi. Ah well, may happen at some point.

They make a special deal that you can change gender with a Fantasia...

Except you can't change your name. Fluffykins Mcponyrider the Roegadyn just doesn't carry a dreadful tone...

That's a load of utter horse ****. For one example alone, if you are going by naming rules and are playing a Miqo'te sunseeker, there are lore-related reasons to change your last name from Tia to Nunh or vice versa.

Fantasia is obviously another example you yourself listed.

I could name a hundred different completely valid reasons, but I have no doubt that none of them would matter to you because none of them effect you.. yet.

I shouldn't have explain this, though. This is an optional service that will not effect you in any ways, so why the hell are you against it? This is something I'd like to see the reason for. What's the issue with having name changes available?

If your fear is the irrational idea that people are going to 'abuse' this to take advantage of you, relax and get over it. People already can take advantage of you -- the fact they aren't shows that they aren't going to. Do you really think people want to pay real life money to try and get away with a scam that won't work?

No matter what tiny, insignificant reason you might be against this -- if there is any at all, and this isn't just petty spite for the sake of being spiteful -- it will not compare to the countless multitudes of reasons why people would like this.

Thankfully, I think Square Enix is smart enough to realize this, and that there's a very good chance we'll see this in the future. There's no way to tell how soon, though. Hell, I'm sure that there's money to be made, too, and that they realize this as well.
