How to Confirm Early Access for PCFollow

For the worry-warts.

Open the launcher. It will update and then ask you to accept terms and conditions. Then log in with your Square ID and password.

If you see..

"Please wait until the start of the early access period or official launch to access the game." = Good and ready to go

"No valid or active service account." = Not good and ready to go

Funny thing is, my Early Access is showing as ready to go on my PS3 -- I assumed that would be universal to my SE account. My PC shows that I'm not registered for Early Access. So I guess in that sense it's dependent on my Sony ID and not my SE account.

Yes, you've got it right. ^__^ This way is only to check for those who bought the game for PC.

Edit: Or legacy, or pre-order. Whichever means in which you acquired EA. >_<

Once you log into your SE account from your PS3, your early access code will be linked to your account at that time.

You can confirm on PS3 as well.

Under the PlayStation Network icon...
1. Go under Account Management.
2. Then Transaction Management.
3. And finally, Services List.

Once you do this, you'll see FFXIV ARR. Press X and you should see both Early Access and Open Beta slots.

We'll find out on the 24th, but while I linked it on the PS3 ( and installed the update that popped up for me today ) it's still distinctly a PS3 only early access on my end.

EDIT: Nope, looks like I'm stuck playing on PS3 this weekend according to this and a lot of other people under the same situation. Annoying, but it's only a few days.

Son of a...well, thanks for the information, but this is pretty annoying. Why the heck would they do this and not just set it up so that once you input early access code it goes account wide? There is literally ZERO reason to do this. It's only 3 days, not that big of a deal, but still... it just seems pointless. Guess I'll just be focusing on crafting this weekend, since I HATE the PS3 crossbar UI for trying to play my DoW classes. Did they include an option yet where you can use hotbars with a controller instead of the crossbar? Please tell me they did.

No, that's not normal. Everyone else I know with legacy logs right in and gets the message, Please wait until the start of the early access period or official launch to access the game.

Are you using the Beta launcher?

I'm so sorry. You are definitely not alone in this. I may not even get in early myself due to a technicality with my pre-order. Here is the best source I could find for the issue you are having.

"Logging into the Same Account on both Windows and PlayStation 3: It is possible to play with the same account on both Windows and PlayStation 3 platforms. Customers who own a copy of FFXIV for Windows and wish to use their account on the PlayStation 3 version will need to purchase a copy of the PlayStation 3 version. It will then be possible to use your characters on either platform by tying your existing service account to the PlayStation 3 version upon launching it for the first time. Similarly, customers who own a copy of FFXIV for PlayStation 3 and wish to use their account on the Windows version will need to purchase a copy of the Windows version. However, please note that your account will only be able to log into one platform at a time." Very odd. Well, here is what I would do, of course you might find information elsewhere, but I would check your legacy status in the Services area of your SE Account Management page. Link here for easy access. https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app/svc/Login?cont=account

And from there if you still can't get the correct message, open a ticket here. http://support.na.square-enix.com/faqarticle.php?kid=62683&id=903&la=2&ret=faq

Click, "This did not answer my question." and fill out some information. It is email support so they will email you, now if you don't get an answer by tomorrow morning I personally would call SE.

Square Enix Support Center:

1-858-790-7529
9AM-5PM (PST) Mon-Fri. Closed weekends.

My initial statement was just in regards to why Early Access wasn't showing up on the SE account even though it's installed on PS3. The simple fact of the matter is, you haven't been able to log into your SE account from the PS3 to make the association yet. I wasn't commenting on whether this gives you early PC access as well.

However, regarding the support desk chat, I would take that information with a grain of salt. They don't have all the answers for every possible scenario, and this case is potentially off-script. In that case they would resort to telling you the least disappointing outcome (i.e. PS3 only access) rather than make a false promise (i.e. saying you can access from PC only to discover you can't).

You do have to link your PSN account to an SE account, and doing so could possibly grant you early access on PC if it's the same account you use for PC. It comes down to whether they separated Early Access permission by platform or not. We won't know for sure until they make an official statement either way, or we test it out on the 24th.

No, you're totally fine. It should be located on the left hand side under Services. I am not legacy so I can't exactly see what yours is going to look like, but maybe check status or something to that effect?

Why can't I just plug my mouse and keyboard into my PS3 then I won't have to wait 3 days to stop playing with a controller!

I, too, bought a standard PS3 ARR copy to go with my PC 1.0 collectors.

I hope that I still get to use my onion helm with my PS3 copy, unless there's some stupid way they've restricted that, too!

I did read somewhere that you can plug your mouse and keyboard in and change the settings in the UI on the PS3 to be mouse and keyboard. These are the steps I found with a google search on the subject.

1: Below your chat box is a little gear, use select or a mouse to get to it. Yes you can use a mouse and keyboard while using a controller

2: Click control settings and turn off " Enable direct chat"

3: Now you will be able to use WASD to move around! and use a mouse along with it like the PC.

I hope that helps. <3

if i go to select services, ffxiv and ffxi show up, if i click on ffxiv, it just says 'active service account: final fantasy xiv' I am confused at this point. I know my character from 1.0 that i used in the beta had the legacy tattoo. so i'm not sure if i'm missing something here or what.

EDIT: ok, i got it resolved. Thanks so much Toro!!! XD XD
