Ps3 client download. Follow

I just canceled my amazon preorder and bought the preorder from playstation store to avoid the whole code registration fiasco that is going on. I was in phase 4 so I already have that client installed. When I completed my purchase another client started to download. I have heard that the phase 4 client is all we need. Does anyone have a link or anything with official word of what we need. I will download the new one if I have to but if I don't need to it would save some time. I just want to make sure I have everything set for early access. Thanks.

Well it is up in the air For the ps3... I think people just assume it is since it is the same for the PC. I have seen no where where it says that for the ps3.

There is no official information about this as far as I know (and I have looked at the dev posts every day for the past months) but I can tell you this. I did the same as you, I cancelled my gamestop preorder and purchased last week on PSN. The game downloaded. Then after that I got the phase 4 invite, I entered the code and it downloaded the same thing a second time. I let if finish, and it just overwrote the first game I had downloaded.

It looks like they're the same exact thing. As it is for PC.

If they don't fix the issue with pre-order codes soon, I'm going to do this also.

Yeah I guess I will probably just re download the thing just to be safe. It takes a while but might as well get it over with and not have to worry.

I hope someone who downloads the new client can tell us if it's larger than the phase 4 client. I suspect they are different, because we were capped at level 20. Thank you.

They already said that the phase 4 client is the launch client. Like I said in another thread, I'm betting that between now and before EA starts there will be a patch with the rest of the game.

It's 6.3 gigs. Pretty much the same as phase 4. I'm sure there will be a patch when early access opens though.

It would be really nice if they would release that now so we could download it prior to Saturday.. it's going to be a wreck on Saturday if we all have to download 10 additional gigs before we can play.

I'm certain they will release it before Saturday. However due to Dat mining I'm sure they'll wait as long as possible.

After i downloaded the EA FFXIV client from PSN it prompted me to install the download and it stated that the file already existed. Then it gave me the option to follow through with the install, which I did. Nothing under the games column on my PS3 home menu has changed since the completion of the install.. So as far as I can tell, it was the exact same file.

Yeah I'm petty sure that it was the same file. I'm just going to download and reinstall anyways. I have nothing to keep me occupied until early access anyways. Hopefully they let us get that patch soon. Then we will be all set for Saturday and hopefully not have to deal with this bs again.

Like I said before, it's the same thing. If you download it, you don't end up with the release client and the beta client installed. You end up with just one.

Finished the download this morning when I woke up. It combined the two clients as you said. Then it let me register my preorder and the two in game items to my account. It is also downloading the new patch. So after that is done I should be all set for Saturday.

For my own paranoia, just deleted the p4 & re-downloaded & installed after my codes. The newer dates just make me feel special inside I guess

My PS3 downloaded the client yesterday, logged in with the EA code and it's downloading a further 1.8 gig

I preordered from PSN before Phase 4 and everything worked fine then. I just downloaded the 08.22 launcher and now it's showing me the "No valid service account" error when I try to log in. No idea what's going on. How did you go about registering your preorder and in game items? I thought they were just including in the preorder client from PSN?

Exalle, this could be due to the PSN maintenance going on until 6:30 PST. I was able to download the EA & attach it to my P4 file by just logging onto ARR. A prompt came up for me to link my existing service account with EA, and then the launcher auto updated. This was minutes before maintenance started though.

Hmmm I'll have to wait until then to try it again. Did you receive an EA code from PSN after preordering? I'll try a spare code from an Amazon preorder that I cancelled but somehow still managed to redeem it on the SE website. I assumed that everything would be associated with the PSN client since it has Early Access, Open Beta, Standard Edition under the services list.

Yeah that's exactly how it worked for me.

The Early Access is available through the Phase 4 client, so you don't need to download/install anything from the PS Store. Just buy the game off PSN, boot up the P4 client (launcher will update), and plug through the prompts. After the client downloads a 1.8GB update, you should be set.
