I was looking at the achievements ingame and now xivdb has them. Some very interesting items in there if you have the time (think Lu Shang's Rod):

A Fisher's Life for Me: Eorzea
Obtain the “A Fisher's Life for Me” achievements for La Noscea, the Black Shroud, and Thanalan.

Obtain all five “Good Things Come to Those Who Bait: Thanalan” achievements:
Fish 20 times from level 1-10 waters in Thanalan.
Fish 300 times from level 11-20 waters in Thanalan.
Fish 1,000 times from level 21-30 waters in Thanalan.
Fish 2,000 times from level 31-40 waters in Thanalan.
Fish 4,000 times from level 41-50 waters in Thanalan.

7320 fish per zone, three zones = 21960 fish! But you get: Rod of the Luminary

Crafting has a similar achievement line for each craft: 5600 items to craft.
Also some DoW/DoM related ones.

So who's going for it? :)

Edit: fixed math :)

3 zones = 21,960 fish! Maths check on Aisle 4, please Smiley: lol

But seriously, while I like these sorts of achievements, chasing them (for me), ruins the game, turning it into a chore/job. Once I can see the finish line it becomes easier, but I will likely just work my own way there. I do intend for this to take years!

I still had problems trying to find the NPC to trade the achievements in...

I am already working on it... completed all the first tier stuff so far, and dove into the second tier stuff in each area. I mainly went about scoping out all the fishing areas because the damn log book gives you how many fishing spots are in an area and I get a little OCD with the missing spots. Problem is, if you fish in a river, that fishing spot area can be really far up river and not in the spot you are currently at. A lot of times, I'd drop my line in a new area, get the log update, check the map and the spot would be clear on the other side of the map. So finding the stuff can be frustrating... But hey, at least I am getting out and seeing the world (and peeing my pants at the scaries around me).

But yeah, I am definitely going for it and I am pretty sure Wint is a fishing person as well as are a few others from what I have read.

Edit: For grammar and spelling - too early

I accidentally ran into this guy while I was opening up all classes in Gridania. When I first saw him I thought, "Maat!" and almost beat the brakes off him (habit). It was late & I had been grinding like crazy, but I believe his name was Jonathan. I didn't take the time to ever go back to him once I started getting achievements. Oh well. Added to the list of things to look forward to on the 24th.

That list looks like its right up my alley.

The link only brought up the home page of the data base. I can't seem to get ANYTHING to come up from the data base.

If fish actually sell like they did in XI, I won't have any issue getting this achievement with time.

If fishing turns out to be a non-profitable waste of time, I probably won't worry about it.

I really like how they did food in XIV. Every bit of food that I've acquired from questing has an EXP buff attached to it. Even if the stats on the food aren't really all that worth it, the 3% bonus EXP surely is. It's not a massive bonus, but it's definitely worth using the food to get.

A system like that is going to make Culinarian a very useful profession.

The War and Magic ones give you crowns for getting everything to 50, similar to how you got Maat's cap.

Unlike Maat's Cap, lets hope SE makes it future proof. Barring that, relevant for more than just a free tele.Smiley: sly
