Basics question about the game FFXiVFollow

So this is my first time trying out the FFXIV beta test 4 and i was confused from times to times of how things works. I'll just get to the point then. My questions are

1. If you choose to be disciple of war then you cant use any disciple of hand as well right ? At first i thought you can choose war and hand just like the old wow where you can be warrior and then be a blacksmith and whatever but i'm guessing in this game you can only choose one?

2.Chat window, i'm playing on PS3 and for chat command im a little bit confused. I see a lot of other players chatting away and their writing would be in orange now i'm guessing that's a general chat but i haven't really got a lot of clues what i'm doing with chat so i just type in /general testing123 and it just came up in white writing? what do i do to make it into a orange writing where everyone can see it ?

can anyone answer these questions please and i'll be really grateful to them :D

Btw,, did you enjoy it the beta test 4? it was a bit shame that it keep crashing but other than that i can;t wait to play it this in 5 days whoop whooop :D :D

/shout for the orange text which is area-wide. People have been using it to chat.

You can freely switch between all the disciples of war/magic/hand/etc., there's no restrictions on that as far as I know. They're just categories.

Hello good questions
If you read the manual prior to logging these would be answered (just a lil fyi) but great that you asked them anyway

1) you can play every class/job on a single character. BUT your initial level 50 is mostly tutorial where you get quests and mission to unlock things. For class switching its after beating your level 10 class quest. Then you just do the class quests for all the other classes.

2 /shout is the command you was looking for. I'm unsure how shout worked in ffxiv beta 4 but its typically zone based. unsure how /yell works. SE changed alot between beta 3 and beta 4.

Hope that replies to your questions.

You can play as any class, job or profession in the game. You don't have any cap on professions so you could level them all if you wanted to. Classes and jobs are the same, but you can adjust your attributes like strength, mind, ect.

Any of the changes you adjust to attributes carry over to any class or job that you play, but they don't have any effect on professions.

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

new class you start from level 1 but you should get a bit of an exp buffer after you do. You also do class quests which do give u exp and gear.
