Do you even program? Smiley: dubious
#129REDACTED, Posted: Aug 18 2013 at 3:09 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) No but I use my head, this bug is four years old, and all this time they could not fix it. Further, since they cant fix it in four years, I have zero confidence they can fix it in four days.

This is just getting funny now. Is it bad that I burst out laughing when I read that Twitter statement?

It's basically a new game and a new server infrastructure. I doubt it's the same bug. Plus I don't remember that happening before, but I didn't play long after beta.

It's also a cultural thing. Westerners like to hear "We're still working on it" freshly once an hour.

I would settle for one decently written acknowledgement of the actual problem and a little bit of information posted anywhere on the internet just once. Not every hour, not every day, but once. It could be as short or even shorter than this very post, and contain as little information as "We're not sure how long this will take, so unfortunately we can't give you a time frame on when we'll be able to get things up and running again." If they actually could give us a time frame, great, but if not, even that information is better than no information.

I'm not entitled because I'm a westerner. If you tell me that you fixed something and it's not fixed, I expect an explanation for it. Like I said, people aren't asking for updates every 5 minutes but there is no reason at all to not speak up and let people know that you actually realize that you didn't fix the problem after you said you did.

Trust me I'll be the first to say after release "What the f** is SE doing god damn it" if things are not fixed but for now...yea you guessed it, it's beta.

The really ****** thing is that there won't be a free trial and the open beta is already pretty much over, and tons of people didn't get to try out the game.

What's your point with that? It is still just a beta. And I bet there were a hell of a lot more that didn't post in the forums and couldn't log in, and yea it's still just a freakin beta.

If this **** happens after release they are ruining the game and they will lose a lot of costumers but until then hold your ironic comments to yourself.

What's my point?

It's just a beta. Yeah, I suppose that is accurate. It's also accurate to say it's just a beta that didn't work for tens of thousands of people. Open beta. That's not a good look.

I'm glad they were able to take care of the 3102 problem, but it would have been nice to see that carry through high traffic times and not just an early Monday morning. It also would have been nice to see them address the 90000 problem, but progress is progress.

Really how many games are in beta 1 week before launch? Most games have their disk made up already. Usually open beta is a free period for people to get hooked on the game that's it. If this is truly still beta this close to launch SE is not ready and they showed it this weekend that they are not ready. Now they need too figure out what caused the issue and fix it. But no one will know till they turn the servers on and people start to log back in if what ever they do actually worked. There were several bugs that popped up this weekend including 2 major ones. They need to address the issues and do another stress test. They should have had a series of stress test with each time bringing on more players not just upping it up all at once. I have beta tested lots of game, software, and xbox live.

Once people start to pay for the game they wont tolerate this. I love the game but this weekend was not something you want a week before launch.

They want our money, We are doing them the favor.

I think they should either offer a two week free trial period similar to what they do with ffxi which is actually a month or better yet push it off and have another beta. Do not launch a game before it is ready. Allot of games are delayed.

I am excited as any to play this game but this weekend stunk while I had to sit and watch my GF play the game while I sat there. This is a monthly based subscription game and it should not be down when you are paying for it.
I would rather have the game delayed instead of have ten of thousands of people having to sit there waiting.

They did this final open beta as one final check to see if the servers could handle what was thrown at them. Clearly, they could not.

Just because the disks are already printed doesn't mean the new copies of the game aren't going to get patched the second they're installed. Those who played XI know that every update means 2-3 hours or more of download patches.

That said, I'm pretty sure both the 3102 and 90000 issues are server side issues, not client side issues, so whatever tweaking SE is doing for those doesn't even happen on the bit that we install. Since we have lean client code, there's something in the million lines of fat server code they've got to fix.

You could be right, but I think it's due to capacity that the servers crashed the way they did. I don't think there was any errors during phase 3 yet it ran fine because the number of people playing was less. Now SE has installed new servers to alleviate the load balance issue. I don't think the disc has anything to do with it either, you're 1000% right there.

Haha I remember FFXI EU launch, 17 September 2004; Got the game that morning, got home, installed (several disks) and then...update lol.
