Character stuck logged in...Follow

Damn, the 3102 finally got me as well. After being able to play both Friday and Saturday with no problem.

I am just happy people can only give me the "it's beta" excuse for one more day :)

Yeah, I'll probably just hop on a JP server later. I'm waiting for one of my friends to wake up first so I can finish introducing her to the game. Hope she's not too annoyed that we've got to move... she shouldn't be, because by the time she was finally able to log on after all day just downloading the game she was too tired to do anything.



Let's just be glad all of this mess happened during beta, so SE is aware of the problems and can sort it all out before early access/official launch. Early access is starting this Saturday, right? So they've got a week of downtime to hop to it. I have faith in them!

I'm now stuck with this issue what a crock of crap this is. I logged out 8 hours ago.

It's frustrating that the problem is occurring at all, but SE isn't helping themselves with their handling of the problem either.

This beta isn't just one last time for us to test in-game systems and play around with everything, it's also a live test of the system outside the game as well. Open beta is SE putting themselves on public display and saying "This is how awesome we will be for a live game". Problems happen, and there's only so much to be done to prevent them, but how you react to them is important too.

So far, the reactions to the 90000 error and the 3102 error was a single official posting on the beta forum to list your character name and server if you were hit with the 3102 error. When I went to sleep last night, that page had hit 700 pages. By this morning, the forum was being hammered to the point where the forums themselves are down. In the meantime, on the launcher and the main FFXIV website we're seeing no specific information that they are working on these problems.

I don't know if they realize it or not, but this is essentially a dry run for if something were to go wrong while the game was live, and they're frankly doing a horrible job in both reaction and PR. Anybody who was playing FFXI when the infamous R0 problem was happening can attest to the fact that this is pretty close to what they used to do so they aren't exactly learning from their mistakes.

Yeah, it's really strange. There was a post yesterday afternoon that they'd addressed and resolved the issues at around 1 PM. That thread you mentioned was at 60ish pages and growing. Last I checked it was later in the afternoon and it had reached almost 300 pages. It's kind of a shock to know that it went higher than 600(and I'm sure would continue to climb were the forums still up) without more info coming out about it. I are disappoint.

Well what is funny this problem is so big it took down the beta forum..
There is a thread where you can put your world and character name and they will manually disconnect you...

Really take down all the worlds and just disconnect every one.

I've been on the side of a complete fubar that SE's on, and handling is important.

Even if you don't have new information, getting word out that you have acknowledged the specific problem that people are having and at least reminding them that you are actually working on it helps so that people know you aren't wandering off. A huge piece of failure recovery in these situations is perception. If you aren't out there saying that you're investigating or fixing or anything, then you're feeding the perception that a fix isn't going to happen. Directing people in ways that cause a cascading problem isn't helping either, as it just feeds the belief that the situation is no longer under control.

In the end, I don't think it's a good idea to accept this as a normal function of a late stage beta. I would look at this phase of testing like I would look at a fire drill. If you can't escape a building during a drill, you are toast when a real fire happens.

Marsupial, from what we can tell it's server side where it's not acknowledging that you have logged off, so you won't be able to log in to any NA/EU servers from any system until it clicks. However, it sounds like you can log into the JP side servers, due to their handling system functions from a different lobby server.

When people are having a problem with a product or service you provide, it's in your best interest to let them know that they're being heard, especially when it's so many displaced players. No one is asking for a progress report every 5 minutes, just an acknowledgement.

Their twitter said that no one can log into the old servers, that they've made new NA servers and if you still want to play you should log into those. The Japanese servers also work. They have also posted in the forums regarding 3102 and 9000.

I like how people are making their decisions to cancel preorders or not buy the game, because of a bug, during a beta phase, made for finding and squashing bugs...
