Pre-Order / Early Access QuestionFollow

#1 Aug 07 2013 at 1:28 PM Rating: Decent
So I just pre-ordered FFXIV:AAR via the square enix website. I have my Serial # and my order #, I went to the FFXIV and registered my email for the early access. But my question here is, can you link your purchased FFXIV:AAR to your SE account yet? Or do you wait until you get the actual digital download of the game?

I also notice, on my "Notices" page on the square enix account website, Below where it lists your Square Enix ID it says:
Registration Status: Not Registered. what does this mean exactly?

I did the exact same thing, and was under the impression the code we got was for the bonus items, and we'll get the game's registration code in time for early release. Am I wrong?

Registration has not opened yet. Probably tomorrow, then you can enter your code.

Right, that's why I was kinda worried. I only have the Pre-Order Bonus Package Code.. this is why I dislike pre-ordering digital downloads. Always confusing.

I got a question, is the Early access different from the code used to get the preorder items (cait sith and moogle hat) And also different from the actual CD KEY for the actual game license?

Because I was thinking of gifting the CD KEY of the newly purchased game to my boyfriend since I'm already getting the game for free and just keep the preorder items and the early access for myself but I dont know if this is possible. Any ideas?

Alright thanks for the info! Another random question I guess.. If you were part of P3 Beta, you'll have access to P4 Open Beta without having to register or sign up for it right? Noticed when I open FFXIV:AAR it says:

Unable to complete version check:
[30605][20446][404]

It wasn't like that a few days ago, so unless they're updating it for P4 now so we can download it earlier?

Curious about this myself. I preordered from Gamestop and I have my early access code, but no CD key obviously. I would think that the early access code and the goody code would be the same.

From my SE confirmation email:

Quote:
As a reminder, the preorder bonus code provides you with early access to the game, as well as the Cait Sith Doll Minion and the Mog Cap digital in-game content.

Sincerely,

Square Enix Customer Service

Emphasis mine.

Right. Well the email that I once received from amazon had the beta code AND a promotional code, according to them thats the early access. Then it says that I would be let known when and where I could get my Cait sith and Moogle hat yet they didnt specify if it was with that same code.

I just hope I would get my cd key in time to play the game on release or If I'll have to like wait for the game to arrive at home to get it. That's whats confusing. e.e;

EDIT: Okay! Thanks, that actually answers half of my doubts.. now what about the actual cd key though. I dont wanna use the early access then find out the cdkey was already then attached to the account that has the free game already that'd be stupid.

Actual game key I have no idea about. I assume those will go out after all the announcements/pomp-and-circumstance are done tomorrow; sometime in the next two weeks?

I purchased thru SE, so all my stuff was coming back under an email @digitalriver.com which inevitably put it in my spam folder. Luckily, I was cleaning up that folder and found that pre-order bonus email. Hoping I don't have to hunt for it again.

It would make the most sense if the early access code counted as all 3 (early access, loot and registration) since you have to purchase the game to get one. The other possibility would be that the early access code gets you in and you have a set amount of time to register a CD key. Supposedly the P4 beta client will be the actual game client so no need to install from a DVD. That being said, I'm going to prepare for whatever complicated procedure is required.

Yeah same, which is why I'm saving that key just in case; hopefully it doesnt count as a key or else my plan will be ruined! *shakesfist*

You will have two codes, one for the preorder items (early access, cait sith minion and moogle hat) then you will get another when you pay off the order with the actual game registration. You will NOT get the game code until you have actually paid for the game. They would not give it to you on preorder, then let you cancel and use the code to register the game. Hope that helps.

question, players who preordered or have a 1.0 account and get a early access, can we start in the fresh servers or do we have to go to the established ones already?

Anyone can start anywhere they wish. The only restriction is transferring a 1.0 character to a non-legacy server, at least for the time being.

All well and good if you ordered online from SE. I actually went into a Gamestop and preordered. There will have to be a system in place for people with early access that ordered from other sources.

You should have got the pre-order code from Gamestop at the time of pre-order. It should be on your receipt. If not, someone screwed up and I'd contact them ASAP to find out what happened. For future reference, when pre-ordering games at physical locations, always make sure you verify where your code is. 9 times out of 10, it should be printed on the receipt. If it's not, it's probably due to the clerk ******** up somewhere when ringing up the order or they simply ran out. Either way, I would call it to their attention immediately, before leaving the store, as that would be the quickest and less painful. Unless, of course, you don't care about the pre-order items, then by all means, ignore this.
