Sales projections are based on past performance(among other things). The PS3 sales are a part of that formula. The reason why that formula makes PS4 sales look bad is because it doesn't account for the(possibly thousands of) players who would have bought the PS4 version, but didn't want to wait for it to release. As I said before, this was expected. Anyone who knows anything about how sales are forecast could tell you that, but giving it a few seconds of thought should make it seem like common logic.
I'm not trying to belittle you, but I'm also not using rhetoric. I wouldn't buy either side of this argument regardless of how it was presented and I haven't used any rhetoric to make one more appealing than the other. There are too many other factors to consider that you can't just put PS3 sales shoulder to shoulder with PS4 sales and draw anything close to a realistic comparison, nevermind trying to come out with any idea of how successful the game is.
