What about XIV makes it stand out from the other MMOs.
I missed the drama, I guess, but I'll answer you with my opinion.
Story For most mmos, story is just the loose context in which you get "teh moar lootz". FFXI was great for story. The end of 1.0's storyline was very good, and what I played of the beta's story (I played all of it) was even better.
People looking for a true online RPG can find it here, instead of the "Diablo with a 3rd-person camera" that is many other mmos.
Graphics For me, this kept me playing the terrible pre-1.8 FFXIV much longer than I should have. It's one of the best-looking mmos around.
Job System Obviously. 1 name - many classes is my ideal system. No needing to list all your character names to your friends so they can find you, no changing to an alt when you decide to be a total *sshat in a major city shouting obscenities. No repeating that same mindless level 12 story quest again just to level a second class.
Yoshi-P Just Yoshi-P man. He could announce that he is making the next
Hello Kitty: Island Adventure game and I'll go pre-order it right now.
