its success is because its so easy to play... tell me if im wrong but ill say about 4/10 peeps you talk to are probably around the ages of 10-16 which is not the correct fan base that i or any other adult should be playing a fantasy game with in my eyes... there is to much that could go wrong there but hey its whatever right? and if you say im talking out of my *** i guess i am but my opinion holds to WoW being probably one of the worst MMO's ive ever laid my hands on... id rather go back to playing The Realm over that dumb sh*t... or even a almost empty server on DAoC...
Your opinion is your opinion i wont fight you on that but dont try to sway mine either...

26\26 peeps I talk with on WoW are all adults and a part of the LGBT community. If you sit in trade chat, sure you will meet the dregs of society. If you join a guild and *gasp* be social with people your own age and that have similar goals and interests, you'll have a much better experience.
Leveling is relatively easy. I'll give you that. Even to some extent minor grouping is easy. But heroic raiding? Bro, I bet you never even did it. It's success is because it blends a lot of different things together and there is something for everyone. Like questing? There's a hell of a lot of that. Enjoy just learning the story? Got that too. Want large scale group events that require skill and coordination? We've got ur raiding right here! Like to bash other players' face in? There's random PvP groups as well as rated BG's for those who want to organize. Wish you could play Pokemon instead? Well now we have that too. Want dungeons? Go for it! Don't like dungeons? Go go scenarios with no spec requirements! Like farming? I mean, like really growing things? Have at it! Play the AH, defend your city, hunt for that perfect outfit. It's all there.
Seriously, WoW has its flaws but the things you mentioned are definitely not some of them.
