From the time you are 43-50, there are plenty of things you should be doing to get yourself ready for RvR.
Artifacts are still useable in this game. They are not as important as they were a few years ago, but they are still used in templates. You will need credit, and then scrolls. You can get all artifacts at level 46. Unfortunately, there are not that many artifact raids anymore. They can be done with a few people, so I do not know what your friend situation is.
Master Levels. Getting banelords on a BM is very important and expected. Again, not that many master level raids are done, but usually, when they are done, they do levels 1-5 one day, 6-9 another, or possibly all 1-9 in one day, so you can accomplish a lot if you can find one and dedicate a day towards it.
Dragon drops and Dragon quests. Getting your epic quests, and dragon quests completed can give you some nice armor/weapons to use. I'm not sure how often these are done on Killibury, but they are done on Caerleon most weekends. You start them by the storyteller outside TNN's main gate.
Ghost keep quests. Bounty points are very valuable. they can be used for artifact credit and master level credit. There is a summoning quest. If you see this message that Hibernia has completed its summoning quest, head to NF and go to Dun Crimthain. You just talk to the guy on the top of the roof, and 1 hour after the summoning quest is done, you get 250+ bounty points. You don't have to do anything. I have a toon that is level 46 parked there. He is now level 48 from just doing this, and has earned thousands of bounty points and has never killed a single person or been involved in RvR.
Hopefully, if this is your first high level toon, you stopped in Molvik a little to learn what RvR is like.
